RX series undervolt. How much have you undervolted it ?

I have undervolted my rx480 8 GB since the beginning that i bought it and now with the performance overlay i was keeping track of the power consumption while playing prey(2017).

Voltages states
1 = 818mV
2 = 824mV
3 = 918mV
4 = 981mV
5 = 1031mV
6 = 1040mV
7 = 1050mV

Max clock = 1290MHz.
Mem clock = 2000Mhz.
target temperature =70C.
max temperature = 78C.

I noticed that while playing prey that the power consumption(performance overlay = CTRL+SHIFT + O) is between 69W and 81W with an average of around 70W.
temperature is 70C.
Radeon chill is off.
This is with vsync on at 60Hz while playing prey (2017).
Constant 60Hz with the exception at the beginning of the level while loading.
I am still fiddling around with the video settings, the game however runs surprisingly well, even with a 4C/4T processor.
Only texture at medium. The rest at high. 1920x1080 resolution.
anisotropic filtering 16x
SMAA 2tx.

What are your under voltages for the RX 460, RX470, RX480 ,RX560, RX570, RX580 ?

Ah, that is hopeful. I am going to reduce the voltage for the highest states by another 20mV and do a few test runs and repeat lowering the voltages.
Maybe i can get it down to 1.000V and even at 955mV as well @ 1300Mhz and have stable operation. :)

Mine supposed to crunch BOINC projects stable @945mV but I couldn't play without crashing all the time.

XFX RX480 GTR Black edition With custom Fans (Delta Fan - AFC0912DB ) and Custom fan Control in MSI afterburner ( 40%=30'c , 70%=65'c , 90%=80'c , 100%=90'c )

Clock : 1330Mhz , Temp : 75'c ( Fan on 83% 3265rpm ) , Default Voltage : 1149mv , Max Power draw (GPUz ) :156.1w

I just reduced Core Voltage by -130mv ( Voltage 1018 ~ 1025 mv) and Temp dropped to 68'c ( Fan on 74% 2850rpm ) also Max Power draw (GPUz ) : 122.3w

I tested on Mass effect Andromeda

Edit : Mems are on Default
Edit 2 : VRM's temp for first = 61'c and Second = 57'c , Weird......

To run BOINC project Collatz Conjecture on a PowerColor Radeon RX 480 4 GB Red Dragon:

Core: (855 mV, 1120 MHz), or (990 mV, 1270 MHz) for more power
Note: Volts set in WattMan; actual value is higher.
Memory: 1250 MHz (5000 MT/s)
Average power: 56 W, Peak power: 59 W

Well, i increased the core frequency by 1% to get to the symbolic value of 1305MHz. :)
I lowered the state voltages for states 5 ,6 and 7.
5 = 1015mV.
6 = 1020mV.
7 = 1030mV.
So far, game is stable without artifacts.
66C degrees temperature.
65Watts.
Peak of 73 watts noticed in the 5 minutes of playing.
fan RPM at that monent : 1125RPM.
I am going to game and test with these values for a while and after having a confirmed feeling that it is stable i will lower the voltages some more to see if it is possible to get to 1V for state 7.

I am going to keep the values from post 7. After an hour playing prey with 1015mV,1020mV and 103mV and no issues, I lowered state 5,6,7 to 1005mV ,1010mV and 1015mV respectively and had a gpu driver crash within a minute. Luckily i saved the profile, it was easy to restore. :)

It is fun to see the temprature hover between 65 and 68C.

I had one driver crash while in a graphical complex part of the game, do not know why it happened but to be on the safe side i increased the voltage levels a bit :
state 5 = 1017mV, state 6 = 1023mV and state 7 = 1032mV.
And after about 5 hours of gaming, no driver crash. :)

I did also disable the steam overlay to be on the safe side.

What exactly does underclocking do? Besides less heat.

Also my fan speed is 0 rpm, and fan speed % is 0%. Is this because of my Twin Frozr? I know it does kick on when I stress it with games.

To those who live in warmer climate, that helps a lot. Since Polaris era, I don't underclock anymore, instead just undervolt it as low as possible while retaining its stability.

Before undervolting, my card ran @ 75°C with 60% fan under stress. After undervolting, now it can do 60°C with 40% fan on certain project, and sometimes it needs 50% fan to achieve same temperature in other projects.

Interesting, what are your other settings ?
Frequency, power limit, vsync, resolution...
Because that is a really low temperature.

Finally topic I've been interested in getting into and learning from, I live in a hot country that also happens to have expensive electricity, so you can imagine why I'll love to undervolt my gpu, I'm using a Rx 570 gigabyte gaming 4 gb I just got it a few days ago and well I'm trying to undervolt it but when I do so over wattman the configuration that I have while it saved it doesn't seem to actually function as I set it for example I had stage 5,6,7 over 1030 and gpu-z said I reached a maximum of 120watts under load, gotta mention I use MSI afterburner for you monitoring when I play and to control my fans, I'll share a picture of my configuration soon perhaps you guys can tell me how can I actually undervolt this properly without hindering anything and if gpu-z is telling the truth or MSI afterburner readings are correct instead about the wattage usage.

Just yesterday i managed to undervolt my Sapphire RX580 Pulse, and stats are: State 7 1080 mV for 1400 mHz , max temp. 75°C, max fan RPM - 1450, memory at 2200 mHz => cool and quiet :) Gaming is 100% stable (Witcher 3, DeusEx:MD, GTA5+HD etc.) and all benchmarks like Superposition and Heaven are stable as well :)

Well, a bit more to it than that. Like what in the world is state 0 - state 7? State 6-7 is 1150 and 1200mhz? But can't adjust the others. I can only adjust State 3 in memory.

Before I go "moving sliders" I want to understand what I am doing.

Yeah, exactly, what are states 0-7?? (other than increasing levels of gpu clock rate :p), how can we find out what the default numbers are?
[edit] I see that switching voltage to manual control it shows me the voltages, am I right in thinking those are the default voltages?
Atm I've got :-
1= 769 mV
2= 900
3= 1125
4,5,6 & 7= 1150

Right, I see now, the default clock rate setting is to adjust the whole curve by x %, which doesn't show the default clock rates.
The alternate setting, confusingly called dynamic (doesn't it alter the clock rate according to load dynamically for both settings??), shows (presumably?) the default clock rates of my GPU, which are :-
1 = 600 MHz
2 = 900
3 = 1155
4 = 1225
5 = 1265
6 = 1310
7 = 1350

I got used Sapphire RX 570 Nitro+
Here's what I've done with undervolting and underclocking. Seems fine so far while running Einstein@home.
Clock: 1200MHz
Core Voltage (state 7): 900mV
Mem. Clock: 1750MHz
Mem. voltage: 850mV
Power limit: -20%
