Thanks dmulvy,
I will take advantage of this.
My first RC experience was in NYC (stayed at the Waldorf, too)
Fabulous memory of a perfect steak & a very fine Dominican -fresh from RC's humidore- enjoyed right at our table. Second-best baked potato I've ever tasted!
Superb wine list -Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon goes with filet.! 😀😀😀-

Well then you need to travel outside of your Waffle House 1 mile radius.

Ruth's Chris is disgusting. I wont even eat there for happy hour any more. The thought of spending $90 there is laughable.

This is threadcrapping. Don't do it. If you have actual reasons for not liking the restaurant, such as spoiled food, you might share that, along with the location, since each restaurant is different from any other. But "X is disgusting" doesn't cut it.

Hehe, my original post does llack substance. Sorry about that.

I've been to a couple of the Ruth's Chris in Seattle and have never had better than a "just okay" dining experience. The food is average at best but the prices are no where close to being average. I cant speak for every Ruths Chris in the US but I can confidently say that my dining experiences went from dinners to happy hours to non-existent.

If you're in the Seattle area I would be more than happy to recommend 15+ better places and can definitely eat for less than $90.

This is kinda funny, because after eating at Ruth's Chris in Bellevue, Metropolitan Grill in Seattle, and Daniel's Broiler in Bellevue, my girl and I felt that Ruth's Chris had the best Steak, and best food overall. We ordered the same, a New York with Peppercorn sauce and Filet Mignon, at all 3 restaurants. We also ordered the broccoli and cheese at the Met and Ruth's and it was better at RC.

I'm honestly surprised at all the people hating on RC, I guess we just got lucky that night, because the overwhelming consensus is a sub-par steak...

We're going to try El Gaucho next...

Lol costco and a good steak house should never be in the same sentence.

Never been to Ruth's but might try this out, I've been to a few nice steak houses and gallaghers in nyc was my fav.

Please don't compare these places to your average crappy restaurant; unless you got bad luck, this food is MUCH BETTER.

Also if you are gonna pay 60 bucks for a steak then send it back if it's done incorrectly, they should expect that to happen, its not a 12 dollar bourbon street applebees steak.

I'd agree.. The Ruth Chris in Phoenix is the same way. Donovan's was 10x the steak in quality and preparation. In fact the best steak I have ever had was from Donovan's.

Vic and Anthony's not too bad either. I have yet to try Morton's as well as Pappa's brothers steakhouse.

I'm a fan of the 1 or 2 location steak houses that are in these price ranges as they really do seem to shine.

Don and Charlie's in Scottsdale is pretty good too. I was a bit discouraged at first b/c I wanted a bone-in ribeye, which they couldn't do (I suggested they go into the box and cut me off a piece, but they couldnt, which suggests they get their steaks shipped in cryovac). Turned out to be very good, as did the gratin on the side. They bring out house made pate, tasted like chicken liver to me, when you sit down. It's quite good.

The place is pretty cheesy inside, all sports memorabilia, but I do like it.

Wow, that's expensive.

I'm perfectly content with a steak from Texas Roadhouse with one of their sweet potatoes and a salad all for $15.

i dunno about you guys, but when i went there a few years ago it was amazing. best steak and mashed potatoes ive ever had. crem brulee (sp) was good too.

ruth chris's is definitely the worst stake house. One i went to in San Francisco was just out right terrible. I mean how dificult is it to cook steak to order?

Capital grill here in IL is 100x better quality food and you get the stake like you ordered it.

Come to think of it.. all the "Fine Dining" restaurants in Northern California just plain suck. overpriced, aprentice cooks, terrible service.

If you want to get your money's worth come to Chicago. But dont' come here for Pho.

I have to strongly disagree with you bashing of "fine dining" in Northern California--I have travelled around the US eating at fine restaurants, and SF has some of the finest--I don't frequent the restaurant chain establishments, but there are plenty of superb "best of" restaurants in Northern California--just try out the "dine about SF" program.

Huh, I've always preffered the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle to Ruth's Chris of course that may just as well be due to location. Either way, the Metropolitan Grill is a great place to eat in Seattle if anyone hasn't been there (granted they don't have a deal like this going at the moment).

As with any establishment YMWV...

I've never been to RC. Tho I've been to a few places and spent good money and got good service and food for the most part. But it really depends on the chef if he's feeling good ... Not sick, depressed etc...etc... or just not there period and the staff has to wing it with the dude in the back hoping he get's it right.

Anyway... depends on the day for most places. But, like some, give me my webber and costco meat department and I'll out do any place on the planet. Well, OK, 99.9% of them... 🙂

T-bones.... yummy....

Ruth Chris is fantastic. One of my favorite places to eat when I travel (nothing around here.)

Ayrahvon, Metropolitan Grill is great too. Quit making me hungry!

I'd rather get a slab of Morton's marinated beef at Costco for <$20.

Microwave it with a potaTOE......and walaaaa!.......a better meal with left overs to boot!.........all this goodness with Sportscenter on the toob while eating in my underwear with no need to dress up or waste gas!

I was interested in the ruth chris meal... but this actually sorta sounds appealing to me, haha.

I might still go to ruth chris too. I'll just think of it is doing my part to help the economy... maybe.

I don't care for Ruth Chris and think it's vastly overrated but this is great deal on a dinner for two. At this price, it's worth it.

While Ruth Chris has good steaks - I'v been to a few of them - You have not had a great steak unless you go to Peter Luger's in NYC! #1 for 24 years and counting.

For those in the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend the Sherman Room on Sherman way and Balboa blvd in the valley. A damn fine steak at 1/4th the price. That being said the last Ruth Chris I went to was awesome, just too darn $$$ for my pocketbook
