Ruth Chris 3 Course Meal for 2 for $89

Well then you need to travel outside of your Waffle House 1 mile radius.

Ruth's Chris is disgusting. I wont even eat there for happy hour any more. The thought of spending $90 there is laughable.

This is threadcrapping. Don't do it. If you have actual reasons for not liking the restaurant, such as spoiled food, you might share that, along with the location, since each restaurant is different from any other. But "X is disgusting" doesn't cut it.

I dont think this is the forum to bash people's opinions

One dessert wtf?

Thats all you should need after the meal, but frankly this isn't a deal at all as this is the price everything would cost any way

Whats the cost of a regular 3 course meal I wonder? $45 a head (no drinks) is not a great deal in many places. Their site is so slow...

Hehe, my original post does llack substance. Sorry about that.

I've been to a couple of the Ruth's Chris in Seattle and have never had better than a "just okay" dining experience. The food is average at best but the prices are no where close to being average. I cant speak for every Ruths Chris in the US but I can confidently say that my dining experiences went from dinners to happy hours to non-existent.

If you're in the Seattle area I would be more than happy to recommend 15+ better places and can definitely eat for less than $90.

I'd agree.. The Ruth Chris in Phoenix is the same way. Donovan's was 10x the steak in quality and preparation. In fact the best steak I have ever had was from Donovan's.

Vic and Anthony's not too bad either. I have yet to try Morton's as well as Pappa's brothers steakhouse.

I'm a fan of the 1 or 2 location steak houses that are in these price ranges as they really do seem to shine.

Ruth's Chris has decent steaks...the best i've ever had was at Boa in Vegas though....Wagyu beef FTW

the Ruth's Chris I went to and had my amazing steak was in Raleigh, NC.

I've eaten there, and it was not as good as the Angus Barn on hwy 70. Plus, it's more expensive. I also had Ruth's Chris in NYC. That was better and had an excellent dessert. The problem I've always had with them is you pay a bit too much for the steak, then you have to pay even too much more for each side item instead of them being included. I didn't notice that when I was in NYC. I did when I was in Raleigh. That turned me off, and I haven't been back in several years.

I am a fan of Ruth's Chris, although I have a choice of equal-or-better steakhouses here in the DFW area. If you have never been, it is a treat, and you should expect to pay $50+ a person when all is said and done. The standard filet is around $30-$35, IIRC.... and I haven't been in over a year, so prices could very well be higher by now. There will be some entrees for $20 or so, but you should expect closer to $30-$40. Sides are a la carte, usually like $5-$6 apiece but big enough to share. There are some very good potato dishes.... that's almost a bigger reason IMO than the steak. Throw in drinks, tip, etc. and you will usually end up over $50 per person.

The steak (filet) is different from most places, although there are some competitors. It is very thick, I would say it is just about baseball sized. Maybe a slightly squashed baseball. It is not grilled; it is broiled under special broilers. And then they load it up with butter. That's right, the whole steak is soaked with melted butter. Some people really like this (it makes the steak very sweet) but when I go I ask for no butter on the steak. And if you get it cooked any more than medium rare then it is ruined IMO (this applies to almost any steak, but filets in particular, and Ruth's Chris even more in particular). If you don't like blood, you shouldn't eat steak.

Is the expense worth it? Not really, IMO.... I've never eaten there when I've had to pay. But if my parents are in town and they want to go, I will happily join them.

Ruth's Chris, Mortons, Capital Grille, Palm...etc are usually places that aren't the "best" but are pretty good (far above Outback, Lonestar, Roadhouse...etc). This is a pretty decent deal for a nice meal. If you want something better you can usually find them at non-chain places. Personally, the best steak I have had was from Manny's in Minneapolis and it wasn't at a big premium to any of the earlier mentioned places.

Ruth's Chris is definitely a good steak but there be way better. My all time fav is probably Gibson's (Chicago) -- great looking clientele too. Others include Nick & Sam's (Dallas), DelFrisco's (NYC), and The Post House (also NYC).

Gee, and I thought this would be an all Hometown Buffet crowd. If you don't eat cheap steaks how are you supposed to appreciate the good ones?

I like the steaks at Ruth's Chris, but I wasn't exactly blown away. They way some people talked the place up before I ate there for the first time led me to expect more. And, IMO, they sort of "cheat" anyway. The steaks are served in a pool of butter. A steak from just about anywhere would taste much better sitting a pool of butter. Hell, that goes for many foods.

I'd rather get a slab of Morton's marinated beef at Costco for <$20.

Microwave it with a potaTOE......and walaaaa!.......a better meal with left overs to boot!.........all this goodness with Sportscenter on the toob while eating in my underwear with no need to dress up or waste gas!

ruth chris's is definitely the worst stake house. One i went to in San Francisco was just out right terrible. I mean how dificult is it to cook steak to order?

Capital grill here in IL is 100x better quality food and you get the stake like you ordered it.

Come to think of it.. all the "Fine Dining" restaurants in Northern California just plain suck. overpriced, aprentice cooks, terrible service.

If you want to get your money's worth come to Chicago. But dont' come here for Pho.

I would have to agree with those who don't think Ruth Chris is all that good. Longhorn serves a better steak in my opinion.
