hate to say it... but she was a slender female and that was a handicap in her line of work no matter how well she was trained.

I'll take a male with equivalent training to any given female because a male will be, on average, stronger and better equipped to deal with contingencies that would pop up in that line of work. Plus a male bodyguard is going to be superficially much more intimidating, which offers a great deal of protection in and of itself.
