Similarly, she describes how purchasing small packets of Egyptian mummy and eating it "became the rage in Europe" in the 17th century

??????????? :Barf;

Ground up mummies were considered a tonic. Many, many mummies ended up being shat out by Westerners.

"These predators have to be destroyed," he said. "Once they kill a human they will do it again and again."

Humans must be tasty :Q

They taste like beef

Maybe the miners will have a chance to find out for themselves. Face the bear or face the long pig?

For me the fact that there is still wilderness where wild animals rule makes me happy. Give it another 25 years and the russians will have turned it into a landfill/nuclear waste storage.

Verily!

Finally a miners trapped story worth reading.

Indubitably!

I've never read a news article that sounded more like a quest in an RPG...
"There's trouble at the platinum mine! Bears are attacking the miners!"

Light side:
Save the miners from vicious bear attacks.

Dark side:
Open the gates and allow the bears into the miners' compound.

Wait til the bears figure out how to operate the elevator shaft in the mine. 😛

As many as 30 bears have surrounded a platinum mine

These bears know exactly what they're doing. $1,710.50/ounce of platinum will get them lots of humans to eat once they're done with these ones.
