Don't know about the russian brides, but a friend of mine had a roomate that ordered a mongolian bride. It was crazy. He picked the girl out of a catalog, flew over there to meet the family and sign the most insane contract I have ever seen (it literally had terms for how many times per week she had to have sex with him, and provided that she would get nothing if she left him within 10 years). Funny thing is they now live in a small 1 BR apartment, with her mom, her dad, and her brother....

I hear a lot of success stories from American men living in Russia with the women there. Not so much with the mail in brides. Mostly with mail in brides I hear a lot of scams going on......"please send me money for air fare and expenses, I will pay half.....".....then you never hear from the girl again. I think anyone interested in Russian women would probably do best to arrange an extended stay in Russia either with work or just a long vacation and I think you would do very well. The mail in bride thing I think is not going to work out so well.

Its simple.. you pay a butt load of money to bring them over here. They are really sweet and nice and pop out a kid or 2. But once they have their citizenship with no threat of being deported that all changes. They say you abused and raped them. Aside from the part about paying money to bring them over here and getting their citizenship, how is this different from American women?

I had a running joke with some co-workers about ordering a russian bride. Because of this I actually read a lot about it, and what you posted above seems to be the average experience.

Also, people spend a lot more money than they thought they would, and the screening process has become tougher to prevent people from marrying solely for entrance into the US. If you're considering this, you might as well advertise for a woman locally on a website under the title: "have money, want marriage".

Gotta have a prenup. After a year she gets something and after 5 years she gets something and after 10 years etc. If you die before any set date she gets only what she already had the rest is bequeathed to filial relations, etc.

So, if she just wants out she can go with what she earned and she would realize murder isnt going to work.

I think that's what happens with most mail order brides. Eventually they try to bring their entire family and boyfriend from the mother country.

One of my best friends is the product of one of these things. Her dad was WAYY older and he ordered her mom from Korea. After 5 years, they got divorced, and her mom is now 40 and has half of her dad's sizeable assets to play around with, and he's 70, single, and half as rich as he used to be. Not saying it was planned or anything, but man, the Korean wife made out like a bandit on that deal.

It was planned. They usually stick around for the legal minimum and then try to climb the social ladder.
