Why did they wait 24 hours for Russian Navy to arrive? They failed to take hostages, had no leverage, and were just sitting ducks there. Darwin award nomination.

People apply the model and patterns based on previous successes. UP to this point; the success rate for the pirates have been well into the 90% range.

I belive that only the US Navy has been reported to attempt to recover militarily, a vessel. This incident was not a US flagged ship and/or crew that was taken over.

The crew was in a safe room. They had a radio and kept broadcasting. so when the "cleaners" arrived, they knew anyone else on the ship walking freely was a target.

Hopefully other countries will follow suit of Russia, few seasons of pirates not coming back from their raids - even Pavlov dog would learn not to screw around

Wait, this makes no sense. Let say you have a scenario where a robber tries to attack you but you overwhelm him. Seeing no police around, you decide to let him free. Now its your job to make sure the crook gets home safely? WHAT?

It's called civilized execution. Personally I think they should have just made them walk the plank and broadcast the video all over Somalia, but then overly empathetic people who's political designation shall remain nameless would get their panties in a bunch and this would look bad for Russia. Remember, the Pirates are the victims here. They didn't have the benefits of the sailors they tried to capture and kill, so that excuses everything. :p
