Russia Backs Trump’s Re-election

Russia Backs Trump’s Re-election, and He Fears Democrats Will Exploit Its Support https://nyti.ms/2uTOgJ7

WASHINGTON — Intelligence officials warned House lawmakers last week that Russia was interfering in the 2020 campaign to try to get President Trump re-elected, five people familiar with the matter said, in a disclosure that angered Mr. Trump, who complained that Democrats would use it against him.

The day after the Feb. 13 briefing to lawmakers, Mr. Trump berated Joseph Maguire, the outgoing acting director of national intelligence, for allowing it to take place, people familiar with the exchange said. Mr. Trump cited the presence in the briefing of Representative Adam B. Schiff, the California Democrat who led the impeachment proceedings against him, as a particular irritant.

During the briefing to the House Intelligence Committee, Mr. Trump’s allies challenged the conclusions, arguing that Mr. Trump has been tough on Russia and strengthened European security. Some intelligence officials viewed the briefing as a tactical error, saying that had official who delivered the conclusion spoken less pointedly or left it out, they would have avoided angering the Republicans.

That intelligence official, Shelby Pierson, is an aide to Mr. Maguire who has a reputation of delivering intelligence in somewhat blunt terms. The president announced on Wednesday that he was replacing Mr. Maguire with Richard Grenell, the ambassador to Germany and long an aggressively vocal Trump supporter.

Though some current and former officials speculated that the briefing may have played a role in the removal of Mr. Maguire, who had told people in recent days that he believed he would remain in the job, two administration officials said the timing was coincidental. Mr. Grenell had been in discussions with the administration about taking on new roles, they said, and Mr. Trump had never felt a personal kinship with Mr. Maguire.

Spokeswomen for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and its election security office declined to comment. A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A House intelligence committee official called the Feb. 13 briefing an important update about “the integrity of our upcoming elections” and said that members of both parties attended, including Representative Devin Nunes of California, the top Republican on the committee.

Trump not concerned about the interference, but rather that Democrats were allowed to hear the briefing and that they would be mean about it.

Good thing we have new experienced DNI.

Republican senators have told us this is no biggie. Sounds like Susan Collins was right, Trump certainly learned his lesson!

Ohh, I thought people were saying that Bernie is a Bolshevik and that the Soviets were supporting him, now, they are saying that Trump is being supported. Wish the morans would make up their mind.

Benie's not being support by the Russians, he being used by them as a diversion.

The Russians want you to think they are backing Trump in order to turn voters away from Trump.

Reverse psychology at its finest.

Love that the story is Trump's angry at intelligence for telling congress. Conservative really have just fucked everything up in the name of power.
With a radical Trump fanatic at the helm as DNI I am sure you are gonna get actual current and truthful reporting on foreign meddling in 2020.

Exactly. "No duh Russia wants Trump" we know that, but what he's angry about is that the Dems were told

I expect we'll have silence from our conservative members until they get their talking points FWD in the am?

Maybe they'll figure it out if Vlad appears on the campaign trail with Donnie. Maybe not, as ga-ga as some of them are about Trump. It's a cult.

Thing is, they don't care. They believe Trump is the best thing for the country, if Putin helps him get elected that's just fine and Putin just wants what's best for America. That doesn't strike them as illogical, at all. As you said, a cult.

Putin and Friends have invested a lot of money and time into Il Douche, they want their money's worth. Putin still isn't over the USSR's fall, the loss of prestige and power that came with it. Luckily for him repugs are more interested in being in power than being American. Why wouldn't Putin support a mindless puppet he's painstakingly manipulated and continues to make roll over for the Russian agenda?

Foreign leaders of many nationalities are fond of the republican penchant for dipshit cheerleaders instead of statesmen with intellects. One more reason not to vote for Team Treason.

It's a pretty subtle scheme the Russians have devised.
hey got an incompetent DNC chair
Subverted an app that blew up the Iowa caucus
Got 2 billionaires into the race each spending hundreds of millions of dollars trying to buy the nomination
And got one of them to completely upset the Dem field, who may actually run second in votes for the nomination
Oh and made sure some or all insult sizable blocks of voters

It is really quite a masterful plan they cooked up for Trump

Didn't even read the linked article, huh? I bet you believed Trump when he said he said he saw no reason why it would or wouldn't have been Russia interfering in 2016 depending on whether he was or wasn't standing next to Putin when he said it. You believed him both times, right?

Of course they'll be backing Trump again because they know he's poison for America. Unless you think it's for the MAGA, you poor delusional thing.
