Interesting line in the article:

The hidden meaning of that is Rush, despite being treated for being a drug addict in 2003, still is using/abusing narcotics......

Right, because if you've ever been hooked on pain pills that means you just have to deal with chronic back pain forever without pills...and if you do need medication to help, you are "abusing" it.

So it wasn't his fault that he checked into drug rehab to overcome his addiction to pain killers?

I was commenting on his current situation, and IF he really has chronic back pain then it is retarded to say that since he once abused pain medication that somehow means he has to suck it up and deal with the pain he has.

Besides, many many people with chronic back pain become addicted to pain medication. It's not like that makes them bad people. It's very easy to do, and almost always starts due to horrible pain that is hard to relate to unless you've had the condition.

Hope he gets out alright.

I have actually read some of the things he has published/said, unlike all the self righteous AT bigots, and while I disagree with some of it, he is a smart and educated man, which is more than what I can say about the idiots in this thread feeling clever by bashing him.

Really? You might want to double check that...

Education

Limbaugh graduated from Cape Central High School, in 1969. His father and mother wanted him to attend college, so he enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University. He dropped out after two semesters and one summer; according to his mother, "he flunked everything", even a modern ballroom dancing class. As she told a reporter in 1992, "He just didn't seem interested in anything except radio."

Up in New Castle, north of pittsburgh, they have private, or I believe its private ambulance service. Sure you call 911, but you can request a Noga Ambulance. I would think that would be normal anywhere but I'm not sure.
Lot's of Cities have private as well as public/community/volunteer. I have never seen exclusive. When I worked in Pittsburgh as an EMT there was a good amount of anamosity against those private guys because according to the people I worked with, they went out of their way to push out the local volunteer services and then moved around the trucks to do it again to another area. It was kinda biased I am sure.

The point is that there were probably hundreds of time he was in a vicodin fueled rage while at the same time lamenting and insulting inner city ghetto darkies for being druggies. He is a huge hypocrite, but that's the repug party for you.

I'm no Rush fan, but one can certainly be educated outside of the classroom.

Yea, good thing they aren't hypocrites like the Dems that bash Rush for being a druggie but support "inner city ghetto darkies".

Not a big shocker. Guys a fat ass that sits on the radio and spews hatred for hours a day. That has got to bad for your health. Surprised he has lived this long. I could give a fuck about left wing, right wing, dem, rep, or any of that shit.

Please keep it non-political or the thread will be locked (there's already a discussion in P&N.) I suppose you can feel free to make asses of yourselves wishing for his death though, if you so desire. No personal attacks in this thread either, but feel free to remember which ones fit the category described in the previous sentence. -DrPizza

I have taught classes better than some of my professors, and yet I have no degree yet.

Here's an idea: education is not merely the institutional studies required of citizens, but the pursuit of knowledge regardless of the medium it is presented in.

So no, he did not like school, nor do I. Smart people who can think outside the box generally don't.

And either way, that still hasn't addressed the fact that I have read several of his lectures and publications, while you have not. You and OilFieldTrash only have an idea of him, cherry picked quotes by CNN and controversial statements that do not fully reflect who or what he is. The only demon in this room is the distortion effect created by your blatant acceptance of whatever your news channel tells you.

I'll tell you this, I despised the man too, I thought he was just another blowhard, if you go back several years on AT my posts reflect this. But then I read some of the stuff he published and I thought, "he talks sense."
Not all of it, and I don't necessarily agree with the content, but at least he is able to present an argument (when he's not being controversial or cherry picked by whatever "News" Outlet you watch) which is something to be desired from the majority of AT'ers who profess such disdain for "bigots."

I don't think you'll find many people who think "well educated" and having no college degree go hand in hand.

Sure there are people who have no degree who have been extremely successful. Those people are not the norm though.

Considering that Limbaugh recently signed a contract of 400 million dollars, I'd say he is not of the norm either.

How many people do you know who can sign contracts dealing that kind of money? I know only one or two on a first name basis. (I know a few more, but uhh not very well).

Once again, you assume something that is incorrect and even passed it off as "fact"...kind of like the big bloated gas bag himself. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that you weren't aware that he has no college degree until I mentioned it...but I doubt you'll admit it.

I read one of his books and honestly I thought it was nothing more than pandering to his conservative base.
