Rush references on TV and in movies

btw, the new album is due to be released this spring!!!

The Link

The Futurama reference had me on the floor laughing when I saw that on TV 😛

In the Simpson's episode, they also quoted a lyric from 2112 but they changed one of the words. I don't remember what it was but I was stunned that they finally made it to the Simpsons. I hope the new album doesn't suck like the last one. Actually the last good album was Roll the Bones. I love that album.

Can't wait to see them this summer.

Come on, how can you not like Test For Echo?

Test for Echo wasn't bad, it just wasn't up to the Hemisphers/Caress of Steel/Roll the Bones standard I love.

Don't forget the Beavis and Butthead reference when they're watching the video for Stick it Out.

"This sounds pretty cool...oh wait...it's Rush."

"I've never seen a video that has a guy with tatoos tied up in a chair on top of a pole."

"Is that Jesus Christ?"

"<beavis screaming>INVISIBLE AIRWAVES, CRACKLE WITH LIFE.</beavis screaming>"

Old school Rush fan here... hehe, I had posters of them in my bedroom when every other girl was screaming for Motley Crew and Poison, bleh...

Anyway, I sort of lost track after Presto.

I have:

2112

Farewell To Kings

Permanent Waves

Moving Pictures

Exit Stage Left

Signals

Have any recommendations for me?

Recomendations?

My favortie albums are (from harder to softer)

Caress of Steel
Hemispheres
Roll the Bones
Permanent Waves
Presto

Ironically enough, my favorite songs (from harder to softer) are

The Fountain of Lamneth
Cygnus X-1 - Book Two (although the rest of the album kicks ass too!)
Roll the Bones
Natural Science
Available Light

i love rush, partly for the music, and partly because they're just so damn funny. they're lyrics are great for making random references to. but i think i like them because they're funny without meaning to be.

Isla - I definitely reccomend you get the other older stuff too... In fact get it all 😉.

I think I am due for antother guess the Rush tune featuring da Mucman on the classical guitar again 🙂. Stay tuned!

The Permanent Waves-Moving Pictures-Signals trifecta is obviously their best work. Actually, everything from 2112 to Signals is vital. I never could warm up to their 90s material...not enough innovation and a little cheezy sounding at times. When I heard Peart rap in the middle of "Roll the Bones", I think I wrote off Rush for good.
