Too bad it didn't work for Slick Willy. He STILL got elected president after everyone knew he did drugs. Oh Wait, that's right, he was a liberal democrat who the media loved. There lies the difference.

WTF are you talking about? And even if Slick Willy did do drugs, it is widely known that Bush was a coke fiend, yet he got elected being a republican. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your Big Bad Liberal Media hatefest.

Whether or not there was evidence isn't the point. The point is, it was still widely suspected that he did it, yet he was still elected - and it was no more sensationalized than Clinton's "I did not inhale". Which totally goes counter to this guy's crap that the big bad spooky liberal media is out to get republicans and safeguard dems.

Channel 7 in boston just said that the reason Rush resigned from the ESPN program was because of the Drug accusations (they also made it seem more as fact than accusations) also they pretty plainly labeled him or painted him as being a racist and a bigot....amazing to see just how opinionated and slanted the media truly is....that combined with the ER comments/references tonight are simply laughable.

THE LATEST (ABC)
A high-ranking official in Florida has told ABCNEWS some surprising details about the state's investigation of Rush Limbaugh.

ABCNEWS has confirmed that radio mega-star Rush Limbaugh is being investigated for allegedly buying illegal prescription drugs near his Palm Beach, Fla., home. Palm Beach authorities had no official comment.

"We don't comment on investigations," said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office.

But a source close to the investigation told ABCNEWS that Limbaugh's former housekeeper claims she helped Limbaugh purchase thousands of prescription painkillers over a four-year period ? at times in the parking lot of a local Denny's restaurant. Among the drugs she says she purchased: the highly addictive Oxycontin.

The source also says investigators have audiotapes of at least two drug transactions ? allegedly with Limbaugh's voice ? but these were recorded secretly by the former housekeeper, not by police.

Premiere Radio Networks, which syndicates the politically focused Rush Limbaugh Show to more than 650 markets, issued a statement from Limbaugh on Thursday saying: "I am unaware of any investigation by any authority involving me. No government representative has contacted me directly or indirectly. If my assistance is required, I will, of course, cooperate fully."

If the allegations prove true, the talk show host will undoubtedly need to address some of his past comments about drug abuse.

Back in 1995, Limbaugh told his audience on the syndicated Rush Limbaugh, The Television Show that people who are obtaining drugs illegally should be held responsible.

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up," he said to his audience during the broadcast.

Media Columnist Michael Wolff says Limbaugh's career might not be able to survive a drug charge.

"It would be labeled as an instance of incredible hypocrisy ? Mr. Family values, Mr. Tough on Crime," Wolff said.

At risk for Limbaugh, not just his credibility, but a media empire that has earned his networks and stations more than a billion dollars since 1988.

"If this is a felony we're talking about here, than this is the end of Rush Limbaugh. That's it," Wolff said.

Limbaugh gave up his job as an ESPN sports analyst late Wednesday, three days after saying on the sports network's Sunday NFL Countdown that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed.

ABCNEWS' Bob Woodruff contributed to this report.
This ain't gonna go away.

Has this been *confirmed*??? Rush hires a lawyer!
"I really don't know what I'm dealing with," said Rush Limbaugh on his radio show Friday, declining any comment on the ongoing South Florida drug probe. "Just trust me on this," Limbaugh pleaded to his radio fans, called "Dittoheads," whom he elevated to "family" status in his angst-ridden rant.

Meanwhile Limbaugh has hired prominent Florida criminal attorney Roy Black to represent him in the case.
I missed his show . . .

Call a doctor or a lawyer? Depends on who's doing drugs
The local courts were mostly shut down this past week because of a judicial conference, but even so, there were a few cases on the docket Friday in Municipal Court. Twenty-four of the cases were drug offenses. These cases were mostly in their beginning stages, so there was a certain nonchalance about the defendants as they stood around in the hallway.

Still, there was something powerful about the sight of all these citizens - mostly young, mostly black - casually taking their places in the pipeline to prison. Not all of them are going to go to prison on these particular charges, but at the very least, these charges represent a first step toward prison. Maybe some of the defendants will get probation for these charges, but six months from now, they'll be busted again. As I said, they're in the pipeline.

On this same Friday morning, Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves. I tuned in to find out if he was going to address published allegations that he has been implicated in a drug-ring investigation. According to articles in Newsday and the National Enquirer, Limbaugh's former maid has told prosecutors that over a period of more than four years, she illegally supplied him with thousands of painkillers. She claims, according to these stories, that he was addicted to OxyContin, a drug sometimes referred to as "hillbilly heroin." The Newsday story quoted a law enforcement source who said that Limbaugh was not a major target of the investigation. "The addicts are not our principal target," the source said.

I thought of the people at the courthouse. Maybe they weren't principal targets, but sometimes the net pulls in some very small fish.

Limbaugh chose not to address the allegations about drug use. A day earlier, he released a statement. "I am unaware of any investigation by any authorities involving me. No governmental representative has contacted me directly or indirectly. If my assistance is required in the future, I will, of course, cooperate fully."

That is not exactly a resounding denial. Where was the righteous indignation one might expect from a man falsely accused?
One possible answer, of course, is that the reports are true. If that turns out to be the case, you can be sure we'll be hearing stories about personal problems of one sort or another that led the talk-show host to get involved with the drugs. The addiction will be discussed as a medical problem.

Just like it was for Cindy McCain. The senator's wife was addicted to painkillers. She didn't have a maid score for her. She stole her drugs from the American Voluntary Medical Team that her husband had founded to provide emergency medical services around the world. When she confessed to stealing the drugs to support her addiction, no charges were filed. It was a medical problem. She received treatment.

Drug addiction was a medical problem when Jeb Bush's 26-year-old daughter, Noelle, was arrested last year for trying to use a fraudulent prescription to buy Xanax. She went to a drug rehabilitation program, where she was caught with more prescription pills, and later she was accused of having crack cocaine. Still, it was a medical problem.

That's fine with me. As regular readers know, I'm a proponent of legalization. Give up on the war on drugs, and treat addiction as a medical problem.

Of course, there are some powerful voices on the other side.

"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country . . . And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up."

So said Rush Limbaugh in October 1995. Whether he still believes that in October 2003, I don't know. But I would like to see some consistency on the part of Limbaugh and his legions of followers.
If addiction is a medical problem for him, it ought to be a medical problem for everybody.
What a (likely) hypocrite; if he is guilty he 'ought to be accused and he ought to be convicted and he ought to be sent up.' :p

... Do you have any evidence whatsoever to back up your claim? Or are you just another mindless troll cluttering up the forums?

heh, he's blind to the fact that those who spend their time holding others to high moral standards should follow those standards themselves:p he spent his time up on his high horse berating anyone he felt stepped out of line even a little by his standards, he deserves to be knocked down. those drugs musta been to dull the self hatred he must feel, having to wake up every morning, intentionally distort the truth or plain lie to millions, lowering himself to using crass personal attacks and falacious reasoning trying to fill those long hours of air time filled with little substance, and make your living off such dishonesty.

there are indications that his recent hearing loss could be due to the side effects of abusing those pills. if so, he lied to cover up his indescresions...hmmmm :p
