No surprise here. This is just the start of the "Swift boating" the right will do to make sure Obama is a one term President and they regain control.

BREAKING: Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity Are Liars

Apparently, even with the economy obviously struggling, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity still feel the need to shamelessly mislead their listeners into thinking that President Obama's stewardship of the economy has been even worse than they realized. Last week, as Media Matters noticed, Limbaugh claimed that Obama "inherited" an unemployment rate of 5.7 percent. Last night, Sean Hannity echoed Limbaugh, except that Hannity's figures say that Obama inherited a slightly better 5.6 percent unemployment rate.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in January of 2009, when Obama took office, was 7.8 percent.

Ok, Rush is wrong. He screwed up. He is an idiot etc etc etc.

What is the rate today??

Is it higher than when Obama took office?

Has it been higher then 9% for longer than any time since the great depression?

What was the unemployment rate that was released just before the elections of 2008? That is a much more accurate indicator of what Bobo, the Post Turtle, inherited.

And you are stupid enough to think it's not a result of Bush's Administration?

Heh. There are negative consequences to credit bubbles, particularly the biggest credit bubble ever created, aka the "Ownership Society".

That poison was already in the bloodstream of the American economy before Obama announced his candidacy. Unemployment was 7.8% when he took office, and climbing. This could have been just as bad or worse than the Great Depression, because the debt overhang is a much larger % of the economy, profoundly striking at the single biggest asset of middle class families- their homes. The supposed "value" fell through the floor, but the debt remains, and will suppress demand for a long time to come.

We've done remarkably well considering that the bailout saved the big banks & that the too small stimulus was tilted too far towards tax cuts rather than actual spending. Add QE1 & QE2 to the efforts, as well. Obama hasn't done badly, considering that compromise with Repubs has essentially compromised recovery.

Don't worry, Righties- your heroes are doing their best to create a double dip, invoke hard money policies just like the ones that drove the economy into the cellar at the outset of the Depression...

I thought that Bush saved, created and inflated an additional 2 percent.

I believe the point of the thread wasn't about economics, but about using false statements/numbers for partisan discussions.

In this case - it's par for the course -it's how these two operate - don't let facts get in the way of their point of view.

The underlying point - FNE - it may be beyond you to grasp such things - is that viewers of Fox news, and, even more - people that listen to Rush - take these things as fact - and are already horribly misinformed about pretty much everything - I call the the Billy Madison affect - 'everyone in the room is now dumber for having listened to it'.

Why can't everybody just stick to the dumocrat talking points???? things would be so much simpler.

Why can't everyone be as hones as honest Obama, the man that couldn't tell a lie.

We were losing 800K jobs/month when Obama took office. We've gained each month since Jan 2010. I'm sure you already know that but want to perpetuate the lie Obama caused the 9% unemployment rate.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in January of 2009, when Obama took office, was 7.8 percent.

But it was significantly lower when Obama won election, which means that the extra jobs where lost between the election and the taking of office because employers they know that Obama was going to be a crazy commie and destroy business.

So they started firing people, just to stay afloat, knowing the commie shenanigans Obama was about to deploy.
