Runtime Error! What does this mean?

Help, anybody?

I'm getting 2 error messages from my new computer lately:

1) Fatal System error, together with a bunch of nos. Then my system shuts down.

2) Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. This tells me a runtime error regarding ccEvtMgr.exe ( i think it means common client event manager service).

The worst part is: I don't know what these 2 means and I don't know how to fix it except re-fromatting my HD. SOS!!! BTW, I tried to call dell tech support but I fell asleep while waiting! :|

TIA!!!!

Sounds like you have a virus, did you run a scan?

also, calling dell won't help you, I worked there, I would have told you to format.

Have you changed anything recently?

I run a scan, no virus detected. even went to dell tech support>ran worm detection program>no worm found.

So far, the only thing I changed/added to my system was a 40Gig HD. 1st, the system can't detect it, so I did the formatting thru XP.

Now it shuts down my pc sometimes if I go online. I guess my only option left is to reformat, huh? I hate it!!!!

Thanx john for the reply.
