Running Windows (clean install)

I just installed windows, its working, nicely.

but its not recognising my other partition, which was going to be my d: (data) drive.

c: (windows installations, etc)

is there a way to remedy this situation without "booting from disk"

Right click My Computer>Manage
You might need to format it.

yes. you won't find it under the my computer directory listing since it's an unrecognized drive until you format it. do so by going to control panel > administrative tools > computer management > disk management.
