So my treadmills knackered and i miss my runs so i bought a bumbag and decided to go outdoors for a run, i managed about 7.7km in total falling well short of my ~23km goal :awe: Mainly because of the persistent swarm of flies that decided to follow me... what the hell do they want? Blood? Money? Sugar? I have none of these!

Im thinking about getting this:

Would that work for just common flies yeah? Why do flies swarm around me anyways? I had a shower, smell good if anything.... I noticed they do the same with cows and animals in fields :\ in b4 you smell like a cow :p

That repel will do nothing. It keeps flies from landing on/eating you, not from driving you up the F-ing wall, which is what they will do anyway.

Try going at different times of day, like in the morning or when the sun is high.

There is a trail near me that I tried to run at a few years back in the evening and the number of flies around me was completely out of hand. I'd never seen anything like it. The trail was near "marshland" and literally it was unusable at that time of day. I made it a hundred meters and then ran back to the car. They were all over my body, my face. Even when I made it to the car with the doors closed they were flying around the car like little demons. The moral of this story is: Maybe you just cannot run where you were at that time of day.

Otherwise, run faster :D

Run faster lol, yeah looking back to see the swarm actually follow me was kind of a motivation not to stop.

This was at 1030am, in the sun :( In fact when i was in the sunlight they went apeshit, when i was in the shade of trees or something they calmed down a bit some staying a few cm behind me. I think i could deal with it if they didn't land on me, if they just buzzed around without touching me at all it may be okay. Im in the UK so they don't bite or anything (to my knowledge) they just.. well.. fly.. i suppose.

Take this with you on your runs. Spray down wind.
