Running Newcastle 3000+ at 2.3ghz

stock fan, no voltage increase, 230htt. I'm just wondering where the wall is for the processor as I didn't expect to get so high without a voltage increase. Anyone have experience or have an idea?
 
I primed my CPU at @ 2.4 GHz 1.5V for 15 mins, the temps were little too high with my Amd stock fan so i stopped it .
 
Only one way to find out. I've run my 2800+ at 270 htt (hmm 270/200 * 1.8 = 2.43GHz) and it looks like I'm limited by the board and not the chip. I suppose I should make more noise about this, but the chip can handle a lot more heat than the rest of the system. I ran mine flat out, testing different configs, off & on for a week or so. Well, next thing you know my Maxtor 120 gigger is coming up with errors. Trashed the drive. I had a pretty crappy case cooling setup, but I've also seen a lot worse. So, lesson here is, don't let the heat endurance of the chip be the only limit to your overclocking.

make sure to lower the htt multiplier in the BIOS to 4x, then try and push the htt up. what mobo are you using btw?

I've got an Epox 8KDA3J nF250. I've set the htt to 3x. I think dropping the VCC reduces my stability. I have a cheapo vid hsf I can probably stick on the chipset and get a little better performance.

got my nc 3000 doing 2.4ghz 267x9 but at 1.7v and XP=90 thermalright and 92mm tornando

29c idle 37 load
