Running multi monitors

I have an 8800gt running my 24". I have a 15" panel I'd like to be able to hook up to use for internet and such while playing games off the main monitor (i.e. get rid of alt-tabbing). What do I need to do to get it to work for that setup?

Pretty much just plug it in. But you'll still have to minimize games to surf the web on the other monitor, unless the game supports windowed mode (like WoW).

Eh, there's no setting in the nvidia control panel to allow this? Minimize the game would pretty much defeat the purpose otherwise.

It really depends on the game for me, some games won't let the mouse off of their screen unless you change focus to another program. So you can see what's going on in your other programs, but you have to alt+Tab to change focus to some other program so you can move the mouse outside the fullscreen window.

If you play much WoW it comes in really handy due to WoW's fullscreen windowed mode capability, something not many games have :frown: Other than that, yeah it's pretty useless. Now that I quit WoW I went back to a single monitor on my main PC. If you still use WinXP though, you'll have windows gui lag with aa enabled in WoW, fyi.

Even if you can move the mouse outside of the game window with the game maximized, to interact with another window (browsing the web, etc.) that window needs focus.
