Having some issues so I plan on running it overnight. How long will it take to run? I have 4GB of RAM btw. It's 4x1GB if that matters.

Does it make some kind of log I can view later in windows or even print out? I ran it once a few yrs back and seem to remember it just has a column on the right that says "Errors".

Any other tips or info on running it?

run your memory at 1:1 ratio

I lowered my multi on my cpu to 6, ran the FSB up to 450, set the timings, and am running test 5 & 6 which from what i keep forgetting, one or the other puts the most stress on the RAM

EDIT: I have 4x2 of DDR2 900; hence the 450fsb

FWIW I've had better luck with memtest86+ versus the original memtest86.

memtest86+

If there are any errors you'll see them readily because a portion of the otherwise blue background on the screen turns red with the errors listed in white font. You really can't miss it. The test itself just loops repeatedly until you stop it or your system crashes from an instability.

You want to boot your rig into the program, don't run it thru windows. The website contains the files you need to make a bootdisk so you can boot your rig and have the test launch. I personally use a thumbdrive for doing this but you can also use a CD or a floppy.

Thanks everyone.

Idontcare - It is memtest86+, sorry. i've got a bootdisc made and will start it before I crash for the night so it will run at least 7 or 8 hrs unless we lose power. Thunderstorms are here now.

BTRY - not having an issue like that. Well, actually i don't know. I posted another thread about a problem I am having. Looking through google a few people have said RAM could be the issue so I'm running it just to see.
