Look for other options in the BIOS that aren't obvious, possibly not in the same area where you've been looking. I've found myself going over and over a BIOS when working on machines other than my own.

Check the manufacturer's site for a BIOS update that addresses the problem, and/or e-mail their tech support.

If you want more help from folks, here, who may have an ansewer, give us the make and model of your board.

Hope that helps. :)

Did you install the Marvell SATA Driver? You can get it and any other new drivers, here. Enter the product (motherboard), your socket (AM2) and select your model (M2V). From there, it will ask for your OS. Then, you'll see the available downloads. Also check to see if any newer BIOS rev addresses the problem.

If you already installed the driver, check your manual to see if it's noted. If you lost the manual, you can download the PDF at the same location. :)

Some simplified BIOSes will show only a single hard disk in the "Boot Order". You go to a place where the existing IDE drive is listed and hit "Enter" and it allows to select another hard drive to replace it in the Boot Order list. It can be a bit confusing if you aren't used to it.

Once Windows is up, you have to make sure that the SATA controller is listed in the Device Manager and that it has working Device drivers. After that, the disk should show up in the Device Manager, but if it's an un-used disk, you'll need to Initialize, Partition, and Format it in the Disk Management Control Panel.
