Normally, I use a Fuel Belt with 4 8oz bottles on it. In order to keep it secure, I have to keep it very tight and position it fairly low around my waist. If I don't, it bounces too much or rides up around my stomach and annoys me even more. Still, when its positioned right and my bladder is empty, its great.

Here's the predicament. I'll be running the Vegas R&R as Elvis and acquired a very nice running Elvis costume. Skin tight white microfiber jumpsuit with blue and gold arm and leg inserts and shiny sequins. The costume's belt won't allow me to wear the Fuel Belt, so I'll need an alternative. I don't want to be entirely dependent on the aid stations for fluids and I like to carry my own gel and cliff shots.

Since past experiences with Camelpaks has been negative as well, they slosh around and to stop the bouncing, I have to tighten it almost to the point of suffocating my lungs, I was looking at some of the hand water bottles. The 12oz models.

Two 12oz bottles gives me the same amount of water, plus pockets to carry my keys, salt tabs, gels, etc. Anyone have any experience with these models or have other recommendations?

Obviously, :camera: will be required post-race!

I think the hand-held bottle with a strap could work well in additional to the fluids you take in at the aid stations.

Maybe add a small pouch velcroed onto your belt to hold your keys and a couple of gel packs (similar to a small camera case). Then whenever you want one, just unzip it and grab a gel pack, then chase it with your bottle.

Half or full distance? If it's a half do you really need the extra hydration? The provided aid stations should suffice. If you are running the full distance, I'd go with one or two hand helds, Nathan makes some good ones.

I'm doing a 50k on Nov. 7 and plan to use just one hand held and to utilize aid stations as much as possible. The temperatures will be low enough that I won't be sweating too badly, I think... :p

I'm doing the full. It wouldn't be a concern if I was doing the half. :p My 50K is 14 Nov, but I'll likely be using my Fuel Belt for that. Might order a single Amphipod for testing though.
