running different sizes of memory?

my brother says that you absolutely cannot run a DDR333 256mb and a DDR333 512mb at the same time on this mobo. He says that you MUST have a dual-channel configuration.

is this true?

It's not that you MUST, it's that you should. What you should do is have two matching dimms to run dual channel, otherwise your memory bandwidth will hurt, but if you want a system that is up and running and don't care about the performance in the mean time, well then go ahead. Basically, IT WILL RUN, IT'S NOT ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED TO HAVE DUAL CHANNEL.
