Running cable

i have a question about running cable outside. I live in South Dakota where it gets cold and hot. Is it possible to run cable outside? its easiest for me to run some of my network outside (along the house) and i was wondering if it would be a problem....

You can run cable outside, but I recommend that you bury the cable underground, encased in PVC pipes commonly used for waterlines. When UTP cable is laying out on the open ground, it has the properties of a lightning rod in a thunderstorm.

it wouldent be on teh ground id be one the side of the house (i mean actually attached) some of our cable tv is run like that
