I'm having a bit of trouble here..i'm running apache on red hat 8.0 (had this problem with 7.3 as well). I'm on a home network right now with two commputers behind a router. originally I had apache running on port 3000, with ports 2995 - 3005 forwarded to the linux box from the router. when i accessed the server's site, my internet connection died on both computers. I figured maybe http uses a port I had forwarded, so i changed it to port 1111. same thing. as soon as I connect to apache to view the site, the connection dies on both computers. anyone have any ideas as to what may cause this?

You are connecting to the httpd server from where? What do you mean your connection dies?

When I connect to my linux box's httpd from my win2k box (both on my LAN), my internet connection dies. neither computer is able to access any outside websites.

Are you getting total lose of route to host, or does the connection just timeout so you can't ping internally at all? IF that's true, it's likely your router may be having issues and having the HTTP server up on your linux box is the trigger. Rare, but not unlikely.

Can you ping your router? What about the gateway? What about the linux box? Where do you pull DHCP from?
