Critical Error: Please Enable Direct3D acceleration. You can do this by starting dxdiag and enabling Direct3D Acceleration in the Display 1/2 tab after installing DirectX 8.1 (or later) and the latest drivers for your video card.

I'd been running the Gainward Golden Sample, and running UT2K3 perfectly, then the card went screwy and I RMA'd it. Got back a new card, and everything seems to be working fine (included q3) except for UT2K3. I've uninstalled my drivers and installed the detonator 41.09 and also reinstalled UT2K3. I've also checked to make sure that Direct3D is enabled. Any ideas guys?

Edit: I'm running WinXP.

Further Edit: I ran the Direct3D test in dxdiag and it failed. Got this error message: Direct3D test results: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)

I had the same problem with my TI 4200.
Completely uninstall the video drivers and then reinstall with a newer reference driver. Fixed it for me.

I believe that updating UT2k3 may be your solution. I had a problem with UT2k3 and some DirectX problem. I downloaded what was then a Beta patch and it fixed it.

I couldnt play many of the maps, only a few Deathmatch maps. After the patch, i could play em all or at least the ones i tried before boring myself to death.
