I find it difficult to find a decent server. Some people run funky mods I don't like. Some servers are very slow, and most good ones are full.
What if I want to make my own rules? Run my own server? Do I need a separate PC for that? How powerful must that server PC be? I want to play with my friend 1 on 1 on the map of our choosing, without anyone coming in.
My main PC is in my sig. I'm on DSL(the faster deal from Verizon, not the cheaper one) I also have a P4 2.8GHz laptop with 1 gig RAM, Win XP, 40gig HD and a 64mb DX8 Nvidia video card. (for the life of me I cant remember the exact model) Too lazy to turn it on and see.
My friend has only one PC and his comp has about the same hardware as my laptop - slightly better. P4 3.0GHz I think... And 7600GT or something like that.
Is there anything else in particular that I need to run a nice smooth server? Any additional software or hardware?
