Oh I hate those! There's a busy intersection around here where the left turn light takes 10 minutes. I avoid that intersection all together. But if I have a brainfart and go there by accident, I would drive pass the intersection, do a u-turn, then make a right. Muahahhahaha! Double yellow line be damned!

While the test is difficult if you don't study, the overwhelming majority of folks I was stationed with had no problem with it. My wife and myself passed it first time with nearly perfect scores.

In my experience, German's dont drive any less asshole-ish than americans do. They are good about staying in the right lane on the autobahn but aside from that, they cut you off, pass over hills, drive 100 mph in the rain, drive tractors on highways. You know, the usual. You want bad driving? go to Kuwait.

In most countries not run by fucking idiots, you can get around town without a car. When this is the case, driving rules are enforced much more harshly. Drunk driving is a much bigger deal if you get caught, too.

Most cities require a car to have any kind of life. This is why driving requirements & enforcement are very lax.

Looking at the driving skills of Americans vs the Germans (where I hold a DL), they should really do a better job of enforcing them here. It's such a mess over here and frustrates me everyday..
