Running a PAL PS2 in US

I have a PS2 station that i bought from an asian country. Thus it is PAL based system that cannot run on NTSC based TV's here. Now i know that there are Tv's available that have both PAL and NTSC in asian countries , however , i have not found a TV that supports both. Another option that i am considering is getting a VGA converter. The problem with this is that i am not sure if the mod chip would still work with the VGA converter. Just wondering if someone has any information regarding this.

The VGA converter is only affecting the output. It wont affect your modchip at all. Unlike the Dreamcast, the PS2 does not output a VGA signal. Thus, any converter is a composite to VGA converter and will work on anything that has composite outs. It's probably a line doubler, so don't expect dramatic results if you are used to playing a Dreamcast with VGA. But, it sounds like this is probably your easiest way to use the PAL machine without buying a new TV.

Maybe there is a PAL to NTSC converter of some sort? Never looked into, but I guess it might be possible.
