Runners: recommend me a Bluetooth headset

I am a long-time runner. I used to completely eschew those who ran with headphones. I was a total running snob.

Now I'm an old man and I run with music about half the time. Depends on the mood I'm in at the time.

Anyhow, I am now in the habit of having my phone on me (work, don't ask) when I run and that's my music source. I have HAD it with shitty earbuds. Finding ones that fit and cheap were the problem, plus I don't like the wires bouncing around.

I'm interested in the Bluetooth options and what has worked for everyone. If possible I would like to keep it $50 or less. And it's to be pairs with an iPhone, if that even mattered.

Not what your asking for but I have these and love them.

They have clips that go over ear so they stay on nicely. There are a few pads that come with them to adjust for your comfort. The wire is very thin and lightweight. I run it through my shirt to my pocket where i keep my phone and it is awesome. I don't even notice the wire it is so lightweight.

The down side is that the wires are cracked near the headphone jack. Luckily, there are two parts. One headphone section and an extension. Lucily only the extension broke. I think if I get another pair, I'd by an arm band for my phone. I think it was the constant jerking on the wire from keeping it in my pocket that was the downfall. Not the design of the cable.

Seems that there are many more models available since I got mine:

I would not hesitate about getting an other pair and I actually think I am buying a new set next year along with that arm band.

I thin the sound quality is very good. Probably on par with a typcial $35-$40 pair of headphones (mine were $50). You pay extra for the Adidas branding and the lightweight wires.

I use the Phiaton PS20BT and love them. The only downside is that the mic/controls fob is a little large but once you clip it to your shirt it isn't an issue. They pair to my iPhone and iPod Touch no problem.

Rocketfish RF-MAB2

I wouldn't say I run a lot, 3 miles average. They work great and come with a spare set of foam ear pieces in case you rip one.

I got the Jaybird Freedoms ... they have a sweat warranty ...

I've had them a couple months but have only used them for mowing the yard or riding a couple times. I use them daily at work. They're pretty good.

you might want to specify whether you're looking for actual earbuds or the cup type headphones, it matters to some... I know when I wear any headphones running or not its earbuds (I also would think people would prefer buds to cup type due to sweat...)

Just dropping in to say thank you to Grohl for the thread and to Kevman for his suggestion and promo code. I bought (2) pair of the Kinivo headsets Kevman suggested (for the price, I decided to go ahead and get a backup pair at the same time). I figured that if I didn't like them, I'd give one set away as a Xmas gift.

I just started using them and so far I'm very happy with them. They are a little bulky, but not so bulky that it matters unless I'm wearing a hat or face mask (I run with one when it's cold out). Fortunately, they are so light that any bulkiness isn't felt. So far, so good. If I have one gripe, it's how bright the blue LED is. Occasionally, it'll cause me to turn my head when walking down the hall or through a doorway with them on.

I admit that I had a brief bit of buyers remorse for a short time. After I bought them, I realized that I want to get myself a Bluetooth heart rate monitor as an Xmas gift. I initially thought that I wouldn't be able to use both at the same time. A quick google search reduced my fears. Today, I took a short drive right after my run and also paired my solar Bluetooth car speaker at the same time. It worked fine. As it ends up, I left my phone in the car and walked over 40ft away before I started having connection problems / got disconnected.

Thanks for the good thread and suggestion guys.

Fantastic, glad to hear you are enjoying the Kinivo. I plan to get myself a backup pair as well. I love them so much that I am paranoid that I might not be get another pair if these die on me. Battery life is still unbelievable on these, used for at least 3-4 hours a week, I can go without charging for over two months easily. The only issue that I am bugged by is the sweat, I'm hoping that it won't short these things out over time, but they have been resilient thus far.
