Need some good music to get me going. I've started running outside again with my iPhone and Nike+ app and I love it. But I need some good music to go with it. post your playlist and power songs!

I need to refresh mine. My staple music right now is Seether, Rammstein, Disturbed, Nightwish, and Sirenia.

It's corny, but I use Gonna Fly Now (theme from Rocky) as my main Power Song, I've tried Final Countdown a few times and it was pretty good. I think the Power Song's probably the coolest features of my Nike+. What I've done is create a power song playlist and point my Nike+ to the playlist. And I made it a smart playlist that will put a new power song every time I sync. I add a paramater to not sync a song that's been played in the past week. So I always get a fresh power song. I'm not at home but some of the songs I have on it I can remember off the top of my head.

Gonna Fly Now
Final Countdown
Can't Be Stopped by Roy Jones Jr
Home is where the hatred is by Gill Scott Heron
Ante Up by MOP
One Mic by Nas

I don't listen to music while running, but before races I will sometimes listen to:

Metallica - Battery, Master of Puppets, Disposable Heroes, Dyer's Eve
Apocalyptica - Hall of the Mountain King
Iron Maiden - The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

I don't run, but I do lift.

Slayer - Divine Intervention
Slayer - Angel of Death
Megadeth - Reckoning Day
White Zombie - Feed the Gods
White Zombie - I am Hell
Alice in Chains - Man in the Box
Rob Zombie - Superbeast
John 5 - Feisty Cadavers
John 5 - Soul of a Robot
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge

LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out
Fabulous - My Time (one of the few rap songs I like... highly recommended!)

And whoever suggested "Gonna Fly Now" - I'm with you on that one! Gotta mix in some Rocky tunes.. I actually have the Rocky VI (Rocky Balboa) training montage stored as an audio file, so I can hear all the weights being dropped and all that.

all those rocky songs are motivational...if nothing else just thinking of the parts of the movie they came from.

Yep, the 1st time I used Gonna Fly Now I was fading fast, it came on and I managed to finish the last 2 minutes. No way in hell I could have gone more than 30 seconds without it. And when I finished I had a flash back to the movie. So I threw my fists in the air and screamed ADRIAAAN! and made that Rocky grunt like sound. I'm sure I sounded like a crazy retard but that's one inspirational movie :D

Get eht Budos Band! It's afrobeat influenced but faster paced.

In lamens terms, if you like brass instruments, this band is awesome. They have 3 albums title 1 2 and 3. I think 2 is the best one.

It's different and it has no lyrics.

This is a slower paced song but I wanted to show you something live that was a higher quality recording soundwise:

They have plenty of stuff available via bt.etree.org that can be found in my signature.

A faster paced example and one of hte better songs. Black Venom is also a good tune.

I listen to 70s and 80s soft/pop rock. Seems to make time really fly by. Love running outside whenever possible, but if I have to run on the treadmill, I will amp up the music in my weight room.

Nothing like HIIT to Neil Diamond! ;)

Those are awesome. I don't even know who the first 4 are but I like your taste on the rest. Those songs all get me going!

Glad someone bumped this a year later. I missed it the first time. I've got about 10 Foo Fighter songs, a dozen Blink 182 songs (fast punky kind of stuff) and Seether as my main staples right now. Ever get those bands where you don't really realize your are a fan? And then you research, and you're like "oh, they sing that song too, and that one?...." I didn't have any idea how much I like the Foo Fighters. They do some real melodious fast paced stuff but not over the top metal.

I change it up a little from time to time but there are some standards that are always there.

Portishead - The Rip
Arcade Fire - We Used to Wait
The Clash at Demonhead - Black Sheep
Fleet Foxes - Mykonos
Radiohead - The Butcher
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Skeletons (acoustic)
Miles Davis - Feio
Sigur Ros - Glosoli
Sigur Ros - untitled 8
Radiohead - Lotus Flower

Most of the stuff is pretty mellow as I am trying to just zone out and forget I'm running. I like to enjoy the scenery and music and have the running be secondary, though I keep pace with an app on my phone.

Nothing. I enjoy running without music now.

Same, way too many douche drivers, bikers, walkers, and everything else to worry about. I like hearing the ambient street noise.

Though .. i was always partial to the Run Lola Run soundtrack. Just high-tempo music and running.

Honestly, music doesn't do it for me. I get bored listening to songs on my 1 hour runs. Instead, I enjoy podcasts. Find one that suits your interest, and be ready to get emerged.
