I personally don't like web based email, that's why I was really happy to find out a few days ago that you can use outlook or anything else to check yahoo mail. Is there a way to setup runbox.com email to work with outlook?

Hotmail does NOT provide e-mail forwarding.

Yahoo does E-mail Forwading and it's wonderful. I use it as a shield in front of my everyday E-mail address.

Yahoo doesn't add any footer for forwarded E-mails like some others.

This is indeed a hot deal. Thank you! 😀

The beauty of POP3 service is that you can forward your other spamtrap addresses there and use your mail client to filter them to an alternate folder. Then you can sift through your "spam" folder once in a while just in case something useful shows up. This effectively keeps most of the spam out of your primary inbox.

Now does anyone no where I can find a free or good deal on a newsgroup server? My iSP doesn't provide any at all. Really sucks.. I missing browing the grups.

This is awesome. Do you realize how hard it is to find a POP/SMTP mail service if you don't use a consistent ISP!?

Nothing is truely free .. let alone 100MB of space. I'm sure after enough people sign up, they will start selling the lists and/or sending spams themselves.

Just cancelled my 60-day free trial with Earthlink and lost email address, this is going to be perfect replacement 🙂

I had an account at this place but had forgotten about it. (probably because they were upgrading then).

One drawback to the 100mb limit is that file attachments can only be 10mb.

But someone asked about fees... This is what their faq says:
------------------------------------------------------------

Will you ever start charging for the service?

No, we guarantee that the basic RMM service always will be free. We may however begin to offer premium services for a fee, later on.

How do you make money?

Our revenue comes from other email-related services we offer to businesses and websites. This allows us to keep the Runbox Mail Manager free, even without any advertising.

anandfan, for your geocities website, add a few <noscript> at the end of your html and the ad should be gone. I'm not sure if this trick still works but worth a try.

For this RMM, the interface is great! For 56k user, you might find the page loads fast. I think the reason is their great design, you only find 2 logos and few small dot images, that's why it loads so fast.

Thanks for the find! My workplace blocks most freemail sites because of the virus attacks of the last few months, this one works and it looks pretty good!

s for the free news server, try MailAndNews. Not the best, I can't even check it out to see if it has changed (yup, it's blocked, too) but they used to offer a free news server.

What is going on with this site ?

Yesterday it was very slow
Today it seems to be dead 🙁

Just after I started switching some mail over.....

Service temporarily down

Runbox Mail Manager will be unavailable until Saturday 24.03.01, 12:00 AM GMT while we upgrade the servers.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

🙁

Still, you would think they could post an outage warning or send you an email warning before they take their servers offline for 3 days.

Imagine if you were using this as your main Email account.

I know whats up with runbox. i bet they will start charging after about 6 months or so.

this is because i have a service from www.ureach.com and initially they gave everyone 30MB's of space. they did this for about a year and then they came back and said that ooh we are sorry but since u are so used to this 30MB's of space we really wanted to charge you on this space. BASTARD'S... so this freaking sucks for me since this is the only email i use.

But one good thing they got that i dont think anyone else has is the you can down load all your email messages as a zip format. which is very convinent because they you dont have to forward all the emails you get to another place to save them.

This does seem like a lot of space, but I have been using www.netaddress.com for over 6 years now. They only offer 5meg space, but they have had that since I first signed up. Back then only a few offered over 3meg without a fee. I think I might have found another service though, now mabey I will get ride of a couple of other boxes.
Also, someone mentioned being security or something, if you want a secure encrypted email accoutn, go to www.hushmail.com . They offer 1024bit encryption within there own servers, and have a program you can DL and use for other methods of email transfer.

A question now. The email I use is POP, what does SMTP do that is different?

smtp is for sending emails

I have been using mailandnews for years. It has been pretty good until recently it is totally dead. 🙁 There goes the GC I signed up for 🙁
