Run Silent, Run Deep

I was at circuit city today getting "The Great Escape" on DVD as a christmas gift for my dad. I noticed that it's available for $15 as a packaged set with "Run Silent Run Deep" (normally $10). Does anyone know if it's any good? My dad is kind of a WWII buff and knows a lot about submarines as well, if that helps.
 
Great "Dad" flick. I lived for many years in DC right next to the fellow who wrote it (Capt. Ned Beach), he used to tell some great stories.
 
Decent film. Among the better from that era which tend to be more propoganda with sets used for WWII subs that were in reality bigger than aircraft carriers. Burt and Clark were always great actors.

I dunno.......these films all became kind of weak after I saw Das Boot.
