Basically I'm looking to get an HD 7950, and I was just wondering if it was possible to use my GTX 460 for running PhysX on the few titles that support it, mainly Borderlands 2.
The power consumption of the 460 + 7950 wouldn't be worth the hassle for your electricity costs, IMO
I have played BL2 with a 6850 and a GTX 670 and prefer PhysX off due to the performance hit I get with PhysX.
Well I for one find having Physx on (Medium) to be a more immersive experience.
I'm running a Radeon 7970 + GTX 460 using the Hybridize method
The last patch that addressed Physx performance issues in the Pirate DLC, also fixed stuttering issues I was seeing in other parts of the game. The Hybrid Physx solution is working flawlessly for me now.
LOL Wut? Just messing around with different video card solutions, I'm currently using a GTX460 as my primary renderer and a 8800GT for PhysX in BL2 at 19x12 all settings highest/farthest with PhysX High. I seldom see framerates below 30.
Now you're talking about a GTX670 taking too high a performance hit? What does your framerate do? Go from 120 to 80?
