Run Office 2007 in 2003 mode?

I have run into an issue at the office I work at. Half the computers run 2003, the other half run 2007 (including mine). All 2007 applications are set to save in the 2003 format, but I am still running into issues.

Ex: I copied a set of cells from Excel into Word and pasted as a picture. When I opened this file in Office 2003, the cell styles had been lost.

Is there any way to set 2003 to ONLY use 2003 styles/features/whatever?

I've ran into formatting issues with tables and indentations in general when creating a document in Word 2007 and saving as a .doc but having it messed up when opened in 2003.

I believe Word 2007 can take Excel cells directly now... sort of like integrated in the document. But you said you are pasting it directly as an image though, where the cells are non-editable? (there are a few formatting options when pasting Excel cells into Word 2007)

Perhaps try installing the Office Compatibility Pack. It is meant to be able to open, edit, and save to the new 2007 formats, so you could stick with the new format, or maybe it would just help display new styles correctly in 2003. Might not be feasible to install it on every machine, but it might be worth a shot to test on one of them.

In our case it is not practical as these documents can be sent out to clients.

They are being pasted as an image, but apparently Word still stores the cell info.
