Run dual monitor but game on only 1?

Just was wondering if I could enable 2 monitors for everything outside gaming. Once I play the game it will switch to one monitor so I don't have to spend a fortune for the best vid cards.


Is this possible?

If so, is it hard to set up?

7800gt good enough?

the game will only take one screen while the other screen is still desktop
