One of the main problems in Vietnam was we never stopped the equipment and manpower flow from Cambodia into Vietnam. You aid our enemy, then you are our enemy and should expect to be attacked.

No. We are not talking about huge convoys with tons of supplies, we are talking night vision goggles. No lethal weapons have been reported. I think for something that is relatively minor at this point we might be better served to go through the traditional channels and talk directly with the government of these countries instead of having idiot boy call them out in public. We saw how well this tactic did with NK and the Axis of Evil speech.

Are these supplies aiding the Iraqi military and thus putting out soldiers at greater risk?

Yes.

Should the supply convoys be stopped.

Yes.

Will Syria stop them if we ask nicely?

Probably not.

Will Syria stop them if we send them a sternly worded cease and desist order written on the side of a Tomahawk?

Yes.

Here's the thing. I see a slipperly slope ahead with this policy we are pursuing. It does us no good to piss off everyone with this you are with us or against us crap and the like. However, it seems everyone is so gung ho and thinks we should attack anyone and everyone who disagrees with us. Our elected officials are wasting their time renaming common foods and the like because certain countries have a differing opinions. None of this matters though apparently.

*sigh*
No, that's fine and understandable........I simply do not think you have any or at least little information of how military/war procedures are followed...............this is actually common protocal...............

Why is is common protocol to call them out in the media like that? Why not keep it between governments?

Well, there are many things to consider................if they don't comment on it and then a convoy is destroyed......................how would the media perceive that? Considering the spin some other medias are putting on the war, it has to be addressed or would be made out as an outright attack with no warning.........................;)

Right. So why f'in bother right? Why take the chance they might realize their mistake and stop without any hostility. Screw'em. Lock and load right?

Yes.

That is precisely the attitude I am referring to. Why stop at blowing up the Syrian supplies? Why don't we just call them out outright and fight both. We are the US. We can do whatever we want. You dare to defy us? Fire first ask questions later...

Yes and no. If we saw a enemy supply convoy from Syria, and we blew it up after first notifying Syria we would do so if it continued, we could simply inform the media about the attack at the next press conference. How would they even know if we took out one of these convoys with a cruise missle or a bomber?

I give you the last point........kinda' silly too IMHO........................

On the other hand, look at it this way, the governements have to be warned and are by other means before media is told...................basicly the make the country aware that if any hardware is sent, it will be destroyed if found. What was said to the media is basicly the same thing, only public! Same thing happened with Russia a few days ago.................the warning was made privately, then publicly.......................we eventually heard both as we probably will in this instance.

Fair enough. I just think we would be better served to be a little more careful with this type of stuff in the current climate. I think in the long run we will be better served by not having the world against us.

They knew what the risks were before they made the decision to supply Iraq. Do you really think that just asking nicely is going to change their minds? Calling them out in public is exactly what needed to be done. For one it lets them know that we are aware of what they are doing. Secondly in the court of public opinion it might just shame them into stoppng. Failing that...well that's when you take out the convoys with miltary force.

Well, you may be right in some instances, but, with todays media, nothing is hidden. As for "the whole world against us"....................not going to be a problem as soon as Saddam uses/we find WMD!;)

The world is not against us. That is perhaps the biggest lie of this whole war. Of course the gloom and doom reporting by the likes of CNN that leads people to believe we are losing the war is a close second in the huge lie category.

This is how Saddam has been receiving the Russian Military Hardware too

Syria doesn't have UN sanctions against them and they share a HUGE border with Iraq.......

SO... Syria buys the sh!t and then sells it to Sodom.

There is even RUMORE that Sodom is in Syria right now and may seek exile there.
Saddam heading for Syria?

More are with us than are against us. Ask yourself this....why are France, Germany, and Russia so against this war? Of course you don't really need to look all that far since both Russia and France have been caught selling military equipment to Iraq in violation of U.N. sanctions.

Well guys, I need to leave this dicussion now. I am watching our "President" on TV and my heart rate is rising fast. It's better for me not to post in this state as I will likely be a bit rash in my posts.

Funny how they all supposedly hate us yet can't hold out their hands for a handout fast enough. It's also funny how much they hate us yet would do damn near anything to live here.

Oh yeah. I forgot. Anyone that might not agree with the President is obviously not worth listening to and I suppose I am anti-american too right?

Edit:

An I suppose I am also a tree hugging, flower in my hair, pot smoking, wanna-be hippie too right? This is America...where if you disagree with this administration you are un-american. Does anyone remember what a democracy is?

Not in my book, this current president earned grades of a C average and then went on to give a speech to a graduating class claiming that he is proof that you can get a good job with a C average

Plus, he went AWOL from the National Guard

What part of ammunition and intelligence aren't defined as "LETHAL" when used in a WAR against the United States? Ammunition isn't a lethal weapon? Lemme guess, they just use their guns for pistol whipping, and guns weren't part of the convoys so it's ok, right? Get a f'n clue please.

No, it's the way you said our "President" which leads me to believe that you don't like President Bush to begin with and are just another Johnny Come Lately that is jumping on anything his administration does because of your personal dislike for him. He is our President. Yours, mine, everyone in this country. I'm sorry if you don't like him, but he is your President. Not your "President"
