Synonyms are imprecise, you can choose to draw the conclusions you want, but as rummy said he was being precise, you are being imprecise.

not the same word, odd that. not a censurable offense, I'm sure.

Granted, they are two different words. But you may want to read the definition you post. Isn't an immediate threat even closer than an imminent threat?

Watch it, it's interesting. One of the best ways to understand an opponent is to read his newspapers.

...assuming one wants to understand "an opponent." I refuse to read the LA TImes and NYT, though I will read the Washington Post, for as long as I can stomach the loaded arguments. I even watch the Communist News Network for time to time. :)

Moveon.org stuff, though? I'll pass, sir....thanks anyway.

Anyone ever call you a psycho to your face?

edit: Oh, and if you actually watch the video you will hear Rumsfeld say that he did not use the phrase IMMEDIATE THREAT, which is directly contradicted by the second quote.

repost anyway

Depends on what definition of immediate you intend. The fact is that they where a constant threat as they consistently attacked our planes.

let's be honest now:

the intent was to say that the danger most probably existed and that we should deal with it; no state but those who followed the ideas of peace-at-any price and those on the take, disagreed.

its nice how they showed his response. He often times has trouble formulating sentances but that link above cuts him off right when he was going to smack that guy down. Seems fair tho.

And as a note you cant except him to remeber everything he said. He has a busy day if you watched the thing on him on Foxnews you would know. He writes hundreds of memo daily has meetings and the like. He is a non-bullsh!tter thats rare in washington
