I have no doubt that Rumsfeld and Cheney had Bush's number. By exploiting his beliefs they helped manipulate him into believing he was doing the right thing. Cheney and Rumsfeld aren't particularly religious, allowing them to play the pious and righteous card without really being interested in anything other than "get Saddam".

It worked well.

The court system isnt the government?

The legislative branch writes laws that must pass judicial muster (Except where the Monarch has final say)

You say this like it's a bad thing. There has been enough bloodshed in the name of religion. I'm looking forward to the day when there is a worldwide "don't ask, don't tell" policy for religion. The religious should keep it to themselves. Each may think they know the one true way, but they don't. This has been repeatedly verified.

Not really a surprise that Rummy was a religious nutjob - it was clear from his lack of any kind of plan that he was leaving things to God...f'n idiot.

Fuck yeah. Priests have really gotten a bum rap. They should be able to have a few kicks since they give so much of themselves.

I suppose a few boys sacrificed is worth the price of catholicism - unless one of those boys happens to be your son.

In terms of the what would Jesus do question, do you really thinks the Jesus would permit a money changer like Rumsfeld&co to operate in the temple? That crapola is exactly what Jesus opposed and the same type of power structure cheerfully nailed Jesus to a cross and killed him dead dead dead.

Now, if there is to be a second coming of Jesus Christ, do you really think the new Jesus would embrace Rumsfeld??????????????????

what do you have to say now that the Pentagon has acknowledged these are real?

not that i really care since you are clearly dilusional.

one thing is for sure, we can all be thankful these were not leaked back in 2003 or our enemies would have had even more ammunition to promote themselves and their anti-Americanism.

Isn't that the same thing conservatives are always saying about Christianity as the basis for American law? (and hence the appropriateness of displaying the 10 commandments in courthouses...) o_0

On topic:

Rummy and the Dummy: wow, that's just really fucked up. Cheney is torturing people to justify the invasion, and Rummy is using bible imagery to keep Bush behind his Holy Warriors in their crusade into Babylon.
Also seems to show those two basically treated Bush like a dope and were constantly doing things behind his back or to trick him to serve their ends. Obviously didn't take too much..

Are you surprised that your religion is under attack. Priest molestations, GW Bush mixing religion into govt. decisions and breaking the country while at it. Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, Tim Haggard. etc etc. Also, you guys took the once great republican party and turned it into a joke. Many Christians are good people as individuals, but as a whole, you people are full of shit.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - -- Gandhi

So true.

The sooner we achieve total separation of church and state, the better off we will be.

So how would a secular staff member brief the president? On what would that person base his breifing? How would a Godless Sodomite handle this?

Everyone believes in something; even if it is Greed, National Pride, or need for power. What values do President O'Bammah and Pelosi have? What makes up your character? What good book do you quote for insparation or guidance?

Maybe O'Bammah quotes the Quoran or the writings of Stalin or Chairman Mao . . . .

It is hard to say if President O'Bammah believes in anything.

It looks like they are the top slide which itself may be unclassified though the overall classification is as indicated.

It is not at all unusual to see various quotations on the opening slide.

It does not look like a legitimate classified document. I'm calling BS on this.

Exactly. The classification system is publicly available, so anyone with powerpoint can create such documents. This is clearly propaganda aimed at destroying the credibility of Rumsfeld. Everyone knows this.

Lets see if I can quite get my arms around the piasabird contention, which implies, without a belief in God, no man
or woman can be truly moral. A secular humanist need not apply. But any ole religious nut who believes in torture,
slavery, or any other human depravity you can name, is superior to someone who dares to think that mankind, all
by himself, can derive rational standards of conduct, based on only a do onto others what you would do on to me.

I suggest that pisabird takes a crash course in human history, to reacquaint ole Charlie with some of the most villionous
religious figures of world history.

In so saying what I said here, I do not want to imply that religion and high moral standards can not and do not mix, but
by itself, religion is a pretty poor predictor.

Tell me again, all about why God told Rummy that torture is moral and telling little
white lies to the American people was the right way to cause the Iraq war. Go ahead,
piasabird, blame God, because it can't possibly be a moral failing of Rumsfeld.
All we need do is wrap a flag and cross around a turd and it will taste and smell good.

Then you'd be dead wrong. I live in that world. I prepare and brief slide packs similar to that.

Just as dphantom stated, that's the title slide for the briefing and contains the overall classification marking of the briefing.

GQ has their info slightly twisted, though. That isn't a briefing for the President. That is the SecDef's daily update brief. It is prepared for the SecDef, not by him. SecDef may or may not have been responisble for the quotes. Typically it's the Command Duty Officer or Director of Ops call on what goes into the briefing.

I did as well a while back. Not SecDef but another 4 star. We were responsible for preparing the daily brief and each Commander had different requirements/preferences.

This is all much about nothing.

I have TS/SCI. There are things missing from that document that even Wikipedia could tell you. So either its not legitimate or it was poorly prepared.

Now, you understand my lyrics.

All the forces of war were compelling,
And blacker than Colin, the Knight,
And the lies they were telling, they sell in the name of their savior.

And they silence the voices arising,
From those who would show us the light,
With their guys with their spies in the skies watching you and your neighbor.

And Whos's Watching Over Who's Watching Over You?
Tell me, who's telling who's telling you what to do what to do?

The BS is all yours. Rachel Maddow interviews GQ author, Robert Draper, about Rumsfeld's biblical references in intelligence reports.

Wait, what? The enforcement wing (Police, etc) are government. The courts are government. They get paid with tax dollars and are elected or appointed by government officials.

Would you say that members of the SCOTUS arent part of the government?

I think you've dug one here, and should just stop.
