Rumours...Francona may be out as Red Sox manager

If he leaves, it'll be of his own accord. Boston isn't going to give him the axe for having one more win than last year with a much better lineup this year, that's on the players. Tito's job is safe if he wants to stay.

Seems more likely to me that he's the one that wants to leave.

And I don't blame him a bit, looked like a lot of players were gassed as the season ended and didn't give a crap, every team has to play the same amount of games and apparently the conditioning was suckage and team first attitude non existent..

yeah, radio is saying that Francona wants out because the team is not very cohesive, Apparently, there are some bad apples that really spoil the club house environment.

Terry will always have a place to eat in the City of Boston. That's a guarantee. I think he's just burnt out. I think the Crawford deal came up as a bust and that Cashman basically ran up Crawfords price last off-season didn't help things either.

So the best thing for Francona to do is sit out a year or two, drive a couple hours to Bristol and be one of the talking heads on ESPN. Then wait for the Cubs to come around. Epstein will probably end up with those loveable losers, so it'll be an easy fit for Francona.

Papelbon and Crawford definitely look like bad apples to me. They both seem like "All Me All The Time" type players, and neither is very good.

I still remember Papelbon saying a couple years ago that he "might consider" taking over for Mo if he was asked. ROFL. What a self-important douchebag.

Not surprised. Most of the time, at some point, a manager loses effectiveness with a team because they get used to him so he can't motivate them anymore. Same thing happened with Torre even though he won a bunch of rings. So, management has to change it up to try to get the players on track again.

The lazy Crawford throw on the last play of the game to lose the game was just a perfect snapshot of how unmotivated the players got to be. His throw looked like he was in spring training just tossing it over.

Kind of weird of the Cubs' job has turned into one of the top spots. If you win, you're a legend for breaking the curse. If you lose, well, it's the Cubs. That's what they do, so the expectations are low.

Damn, I feel bad for Francona, I really like him, and I'm a Yankees fan. I hope he lands somewhere soon, just seems like a real good guy.

Actually Pap rebounded nicely this season after blowing 8+ saves last year he only blew 2 this year, unfortunately both were in September. Crawford just seemed to wilt under the pressure in Boston, he couldn't even play a decent left field at the end, too bad (as already mentioned in an earlier post) these contracts can't be canceled ala NFL when high-paid athletes don't produce, bye bye..
