I think Nvidia was left scrambling to cover the RX 470, but then they've come to their senses and thought the better of it to just hold off and come up with a proper and cheaper GTX 1050 rather than branding it as a GTX 1060 which would have only led to confusion.
Also possibly helped by the fact we won't be seeing RX 470 anytime soon on the market, and funnily enough it seems aftermarket 1060 cards will make it out before aftermarket 480 cards.
