instead of Tv ads HP should have paid some developers to port some popular apps to the TP

I dunno about anyone else but that actor they hired really bothers me.

WTF can't they hire an old Star Wars actor or someone from the original Star Trek or Dr. Who or something?

But Nooooo, they hire some drunk idiot that gets to sleep with Katie Perry...

Too bad. I heard it was really good for a first effort. I don't think tablet makers besides apple are advertising enough though. Most people probably had no idea there was such a thing as an hp touchpad.

I've purchased one or two HP products and they were to say the least, uninspiring.

What I'd love to see HP do is to stop using WebOS on tablets and aggressively license it. Imagine what Samsung could build...
The problem with that is HP execs have said they don't want WebOS to be playing 2nd fiddle to Android or WP7.

HP's Jon Rubinstein also dished a bit more on the subject to This is my next, noting that "if someone wants to really invest, and potentially help develop webOS, we're interested in talking to them," although he went on to indicate that HP isn't interested in playing second (or third) fiddle with a company primarily focused on Android or Windows Phone -- it'd seemingly have to be webOS first, but not necessarily webOS exclusively.

Samsung is flooding the market with ads, plus big outreach via social media

It is disappointing. I had a Pre/Frankenpre 2 for over 2 years w/ Sprint. WebOS is by far the best mobile OS out there (I've owned an iPhone, Blackberry, Android phone, and now have a Windows Phone running Mango), but they can't figure out how to market it or put it on a killer piece of hardware. Ah well. Not too late to turn it around, but it isn't looking good.

It's frustrating because HP should've taken WebOS in a new, exciting direction. Instead, it's like they're hell-bent on picking up right where Palm left off on their downward spiral.

Gonna buy one when they toss them out for $149. Maybe someone will figure out how to get it to run something besides WebOS.

Definitely enjoying my TouchPad. webOS isn't perfect, but I think it's the best tablet OS so far. If only HP had put out a better design hardware-wise, I would have bought it over buying the Galaxy Tab 10.1. NOW if only I could install webOS on the Galaxy...hmmmm

Get as much use as you can out of it.
From the looks of things it wont be getting an update or 3rd party support.
Once news of Best Buy gets out, software companies large and small with jump ship to Android and others. Frankly I dunno how many people were hoping to seriously write apps for it full time to begin with.

Well, they also have the UFC guy, but Lea Michele (?) from Glee appears to be the most run one.

Too many companies trying to play catch up with Apple. So, should I look for these millions of unsold tablets at the nearest "factory outlet", or do they send them to "needy children" in China to "recycle"?
