Rumors spread of Kim Jong Un Assassination in Beijing

interesting...

sources are saying that he was lured in with promises of some good starcraft competition.

North Korea is in some bad shape. I hope the North Koreans can soon join the rest of the world in the 21st century.

If true, it presents an interesting dilema. Would this piss the N. Koreans off and create a riff between one of the few countries that deals with them and also happens to be on their border. Or, is this an inside job (a coup) and China will remain blameless.

How would it affect North and South Koreans if a riff between N. Korea and China happens?

Probably much a do about nothing but we shall see.

If true, I wonder who the next leader would be...
hard to say because North Korean politics are so insular, but I'd imagine some General or other. probably not one of Kim's sons unless it's purely as a puppet.

I believe Kim Jong-nam is more or less in exile in Macau.

Kim Jong-chul is the rumored-to-be-gay son that fell out of favor a couple years ago... he's still in North Korea, though, so I guess he'd be in the running if a military general needed a puppet leader.

Doesn't matter who gets to be "The Dear Leader" or the "The Dearest Leader II, or III, or IV, etc. etc.

Their system of isolationist, throw-back pre-industrial age "government" has a life of its own and will always need an exhaulted "leader" steeped in the confines of primitive idolatry. Without such, their generations of brainwashed idol worshippers that serve their "Leader" would have no purpose in life.
