I personally think the 290/290X were undervalued but $429 seems like a lot. I guess with the clock bumps it might be within 10-15% of the 980 so that could be their thinking. I'm sure if the cards aren't selling we'll see the prices quickly retreat to 290/290X levels. One problem might be that doubling the VRAM gives them less margin to play with since their is going to be a higher fixed cost for these cards.

R290X is ~10% behind 980 at 1440p.

A small bump and its even.

The only question is power usage, if it remains 250W gaming load, its not going to be popular, period.

Well I'm happy with my 7970ghz now but of I'm going to upgrade I may as well get something that's 50% more powerful. The way I see it, if the 290x can't do i would need to go to 980ti or actually spend more on fury. Although $800 for a gpu that's crazeballs.

Don't get your hopes up they glossed right over the "new" cards if they had something to talk about they would have.

Exactly. So what you guys should not forget is that USA usually has much, much lower prices and more price drops. The cheapest 290 here is still 297. (So the new serious will also be more expensive than 329, I'm pretty sure) but the difference will be smaller and more in line with 8gb and & 10%. Albeit that 8 gb is a waste. They should have kept it at 4 GB and sold for $50 cheaper.

they show this new reference shroud in all the slides, but all the cards on stage are aftermarket. Probably aftermarket only for everything except fury

I like how during the past months we've been brainwashed to "re-branding is kinda ok".

Or more like "As time passes I'm getting used to my purulent wound in my foot."

What internet are you reading?

The rage against AMD for these "new" cards has taken vitriol to a pretty absurd level.

Annnnd they bring out some marketing goon lol

edit: wtf? We want Fiji, not an SFF PC. Typical Marketing, missing the point. SHOW US THE NEW FIJI DESKTOP CARDS PLZ.
