Eurogamer - The Spanish version of Eurogamer is saying that they got their hands on a document detailing some of the specs of a true successor of the PSP.

It will feature a low power quad-core SGX543MP chip from PowerVR, codenamed 'Hydra' that is capable of 133 million polygons per second and 4Gpixels/sec fillrate. It also has the ability to operate as both the CPU and GPU. Assuming this is is the 200MHz version of the chip, it should put it in the same realm graphically as the original Xbox.

Seems like there are three tiers to gaming graphics now. PC followed by Consoles followed by handhelds. I hope the new PSP has dual analog sticks and has touchscreen.

I hope it doesn't cost $350.

"Just get a second job!"

=sigh= the PS3 is a nice piece of hardware, but Sony management acts like they've been drinking hard all day long.

Will it have RIIIIIIIDGE RACER as a launch title?

Also important: how many giant enemy crabs can this new graphics power render at once?!

I was wondering the same thing considering the PSP is roughly a PS1.5 or PS1.75 in graphics.

I suspect cramming all those 133 million polygons onto a smaller screen might actually produce something that looks significantly better than an Xbox game.

Wii has inferior graphics, and outsells the PS3 and 360 combined in the US.

I guess MS never learned either?

ONLY cuz R4DS,,, they ought to thank dem pirates.

More likely because of better pricing, targeting a wider audience, better battery life, innovative titles, well known franchises, superior in-store presence, more child-proof design...

I doubt even 1 out of 10 DS owners pirates games.

360 is cheaper than Wii now.

But there's no way anything close to 'most' people pirate the DS. Perhaps in China, but not in most of the places the DS is sold.

If it doesn't have some goofy slide out mechanic (unless it happens to be a QWERTY keyboard), has a touch screen, and I suppose dual analog sticks (though I've never played a game that uses dual analog sticks effectively without screwing up the rest of the input), supports backwards compat with the current PSP titles (don't care if it's through UMD or from digital), and preferably PSX and PS2 titles as well (via digital), has support for an external memory medium (I really wish they'd drop the memory stick format for something worthwhile like MicroSD), has wireless B/G/N and bluetooth, allows connection to TV (preferably Mini HDMI) and allows the same level of "openness" as the PS3, then I wouldn't mind so much paying $350 for it. Add in a 3G baseband module, SIM slot and a built in mic too while you're at it, and I'd be ecstatic.

If it's as stupid as the PSP Go, then whatever.

A portable PS2 with thousands of already-developed titles would be a slam-dunk, so Sony will never do that.

It would also make new development way too easy to create one Transformers or Let the Right One In movie game for both PS2 and PS2PGo platforms with almost zero extra cost. It's just not enough of a challenge.

Unless you add the costs for MS's wifi, then its $100 more. But whos counting, its just money.

The Wii doesn't have an ethernet port either. Although the wired ethernet adaptor for the Wii isn't $100. I don't think Wifi is some kind of special or even remotely important feature. Certainly not one you could use to say a 360 needs to compete with the Wii. Wired>Wireless.

Of course they could but they have to have a handheld with decent battery life and something that won't burn your hand off. You have to make many comprimises with handhelds.
