Are they substantially reworking the car? Or are they going to admit they were full of $#!^ since didn't they keep claiming there wasn't room for a turbo or AWD, they had designed the cars such that there was just no room to package that in the chassis?
Personally, I'm all for it. I always thought the BRZ could be like a GTR-lite. I'd love for them to pair with Cosworth or Prodrive or someone and offer a special version in the vein of the 22B.
This if you want AWD get a WRX. BRZ should stay RWD
No, if you want the lighter RWD you get the Scion/Toyota.
That's always been my issue with this is that there's practically no difference between the Subaru and Toyota versions. It always baffled me that it wasn't always setup so Subaru would differentiate by offering AWD and a turbo.
Yeah, that makes no sense. RWD & great handling is what the original design was for. They'd probably make it stick only if they could get away with it
Fact is, if they want to keep sales numbers up they need to go for automatics. My bigger issue is that I don't think Subaru's auto is terribly performance oriented (didn't they put a CVT in the WRX?).
I assume they mean drastic changes to weight, but a turbo or supercharger will not add enough weight to change the dynamics of the vehicle.
The S2000 with a Viper V10 I saw on another forum would prob not handle as well as a typical S2000.
Well maybe, but I'm guessing they also put work into compensating for the extra weight and power (upgrade suspension, maybe add a roll cage, probably turned the front end into a tube frame and shed some weight). It will definitely drive differently, but not necessarily better or worse. Now you might prefer cars that you keep wound up versus more braking and acceleration, but what you'd rather have would probably depend more on where you're driving (well and budget).
