That would be sad news indeed. I was waiting for the nexus 10 2 to decide what my next tablet purchase would be. It was either going to be the 10 2 or an iPad. If this is true I guess it'll be an iPad.

The HTC One has an IR blaster right? Did it still work? On my galaxy S4 I stayed away from anything not TouchWiz based because it broke the IR blaster. It's the most useful feature on my phone by far now that I have it and a smart remote app (I think it cost $3 or so?)

I REALLY hope it's not one of those features that only lasts a generation. I haven't touched my Harmony in a month or so.

Yes it worked - It was fixed quite quickly really.

In Google's earning call they said that the Nexus line is doing very well(whatever that means) so I don't see why they would want to do this.

Yeah, why would Google ditch Nexus when the sales rift between Samsung and the 2nd Android hardware competitor is so huge that having the Nexus brand would always be an advantage. Face it hardly anyone would give a shit about LG or Asus if it weren't for N4/5/7.

I think Samsung hates how the Nexus line is putting pressure on unlocked phone prices. I bet that GPe S4 had mediocre sales because why not just buy a Nexus 5 instead and save hundreds? There goes Samsung's margins in a poof.

Face it, the "good enough" era has been here for a year at least and next to pointless DPI increases and meager bumps in performance for the S5 and beyond aren't going to make the masses go wow. The only reason Samsung hasn't tanked as much is because Nexus devices still aren't out officially in many countries.

Well and because thanks to the subsidy system a SGS4 looks a lot cheaper than a Nexus 5 to your average American consumer. For many the $350-400 for a Nexus would still be a very expensive phone from their perspective.

The real threat is not Nexus, it is a recognized brand putting forth a cheap phone that full price is near a subsidized flagship device. Like the Moto G- many can't even tell a difference between it and a S4 or Nexus 5 for what they use the phone for.

I think Google can step out of the market, and as long as we have GPe devices to push stock Android it won't be a big detriment as long as Lenovo keeps pushing Moto in that direction.

LG's US market share has been flat in 2013 while Samsung is growing. So even here where I believe Google Play sells the Nexus 5 the cheapest, Samsung is still growing faster.

I really don't think it's so much the phones. Samsung is huge and spends significantly more on marketing and has a much better branding strategy than any other Android manufactures.

The Galaxy S3 and S4 could not be more boring looking phones, people complain about TouchWiz and lag, and yet it's selling like crazy. People are familiar with Samsung and the Galaxy Branding. WTF is an LG G2? R2-D2's lost brother?

People want an iPhone or Galaxy. It is really sad scene in the US cellular market. It's too bad marketing overwhelms everything else.

Sister in law is paying $110/month for Verizon service with only 2gigs of data. She has been eligible for upgrade since last July, but she is still "saving" her upgrade for next iPhone because she loves her White iPhone 4 8GB which has a bunny case. I just shake my head and smile.

Not everyone wants a Moto X either, so stop acting like your choice trumps everyone else's.

Hey if she needs Verizon anyway and she isn't going to flip a 5S for value then waiting is smart.

Once the first 5 inch iPhone hits all the others will look like jokes.

That's because the Moto X was dated the moment it was released

These "low prices" everybody's loving so much is what it should have been released at

Wrong. No one is claiming Moto X being outdated since a week after launch. Welcome to 2014. Not everyone still hang onto spec sheets. The Moto X is easily the smoothest and fluid Android experience next to Nexus 5. Not even my Note 3 can touch Moto X as far as smoothness and overall experience. If I don't need the battery I would gladly trade my Note 3 for wife's new Moto X.

Thing is she has waited for so long since last July. When is the new iPhone coming out anyway? She likes iPhone because its the cool thing to have but she also feels $200 is too much for a phone without realizing the outrageous monthly premium include phone subsidy.

On my Verizon unlimited account I just used my upgrade and bought an iPhone 5S. Still kept my unlimited data. Flipped it in less than 2 hours for $620. I paid $150 plus tax. I should've listed it higher. Gold iPhones are still so easy to sell, buyers bend over backwards for you.

And you've described the problem with it... You like it, but not enough to change from what you have. Your reason is battery life, my reason is zero large storage options and a laughable 720p screen. My point is that it's a decent phone, but there's usually a good reason to go with something else. If it was so good then we wouldn't be making excuses why we didn't buy it.

That's what you should have said earlier. Calling it dated, while technically right, has no bearing on the experience.

So you're saying what I said was accurate, but I shouldn't have posted it?

I'll hear you out, but you're going to have to start making a lot more sense.
