Thank God. This nation needs leaders with backbone.

For once I agree with Passions...although I think he left something out. We need leaders with backbone, but we don't need leaders with nothing BUT backbone.

Who cares. It's way too late. I don't give a damn if Bush retires tomorrow. The next several generations will be cleaning up his mess. There's no need to be in a hurry now.

Didn't Rummy already try to retire twice now?

IMO Lieberman would be horrendous. He's too shifty of a character...

For the sake of Iraq and the US we can only hope it's true. I wish Lieberman would just change parties, he's a fake like Zell.
One of the biggest mistakes Gore made was naming Lieberman, of all people, as his running mate.

He may as well named Cheney.
So if a guy doesn't walk in lock-step with the fringe left he needs to go? Thought police anyone?
:cookie:

Lieberman's long been a DLC-dandy and rather pro-Corporate, pro-military. There's a reason the PNAC flourished under the Clinton administration and Lieberman would be just the right type of Democrat to continue supporting the putrid PNAC/WINEP solution.

Rumsfeld has twice before submitted his resignation but the Propagandist rejected it both times.

So pro-military is a bad thing now? You only want to elect people anti-military?

Lieberman is Chief Inquisitor of the thought police. He's one of the pests constantly hounding after violent video games and media.

AGREED! Joementum did energize/maximize the Jewish vote in places like Florida which made that state basically dead even. I would argue that had Gore chosen Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida or maybe Bob Graham, they would have been just as competitive in Florida.
Still, Joementum is an asshat, attacking Democrats because they DARE criticize GWB in for his actions on Iraq. This is being floated around because if Liberman leaves, Gov. Rell (R) can probably appoint someone like Simmons, Shays, Johnson to fill his seat. Anyway, could be worst.

it's basically a moot point the way I see it. it's far too late for any change to be effective right now, and considering we will be pulling out in the next 6-18 months it's just not going to matter. to win in Iraq the way the president wants to we would have to be there a minimum of 5-10 years, and there is no way in hell we will be in Iraq for 5-10 years with even remotely the troop level we have now.

I agreed with Passion, I live in CT and Liberman is just out of control, if he want to change he can do it because CT republicans are in bad shape here after Gov. Roland scandal. He got the strong support from Jews community, that doesnt care to change parties as long he support Israel in Washington.

I think Passion and colonel are correct-Rummy isn't going anywhere.

But also as a citizen of CT, I pray this rumor is true. On the national scene it won't make one whit of difference-Liberman is probably more for the Iraq war than Rummy (he's for anything that might possibly aid Israel, and I see Lieberman as promoting this war as a way to take pressure off Israel). But it would remove the millstone of Lieberman from the CT political scene.

Our former governor and senator, Weicker, recently made noises about running against Lieberman. I really hope he does. Lieberman beat Weicker back in 1988 through a very successful series of Bush-type attack ads protraying Weicker as a sleeping bear.

Lieberman weirds me out. He's a political prostitute... and he does not differentiate between sides that he panders to. That makes him even more dangerous than Bush. At least Bush is predictable...
