Rum has just been unseated from its place with Coke

This stuff is simply amazing. Granted a tad pricier than Bacardi Dark, but it makes an absolute killer Tequila and Coke. I won't drink rum with coke anymore unless I'm stuck some place that just doesn't have Jose Black.

You can also sip this from a shot glass, and you won't be able to tell it is Tequila at all. And, you can get it in the regular Tequila aisle, as opposed to something like Patron which costs more and doesn't go well with Coke.

Have a drink on me. :)

The Cuervo Black is aged in Oak barrels for 12-months - therefore I would guess the flavor is similar to a lot of aged whiskey's.

Certainly is the case with the Herradurra Anejo I usually sip.

real dark rums > tequila.

I occasionally mix some Appleton Estate Extra (12 year old) rum with coke. That's a great drink.

Cuervo Black tastes like wood... seriously, it tastes like the barrels they age it in

I'm much more of a rum fan now than I was a few years ago. I like Appleton Estate's white rum for stock drinks, V/X for sipping. Gosling's Black Seal for a dark n stormy. Brinley's Gold Vanilla for anything vanilla... add some milk and it's amazing.

Can't stand tequila.

If you have to mix your liquor with soda, you aren't drinking the right liquor. Get yourself a nice scotch, whiskey, bourbon, tequila, cognac... hell, even a good vodka is fine on its own.

I bought a bottle of Cuervo Black for mixing at my last poker game. Had a few too many snakebites, rum-and-cokes, and, well, too much of everything else... We ended up shooting the whole bottle of "black". Don't remember how it tasted... In fact, I don't remember anything after 12:30... However, I did win a $5 Texas mini-tourney somehow.... Hooray for autopilot :D
