You sould be able to find the rules somewhere....if you don't have a starter pack, they're only like $8....go grab one. You'll get the rules AND a bunch of cards.

Yeah, the rulebook that comes with a starter deck should learn you all you need. For the details (when I played much I remember all the discussions about timing) check magazines (haven't played much recently so I don't know what mags are good today) and look at sites on the Net (again, haven't checked much lately). And there are some people here who play, so if you have problems ask.
I once wrote a tutorial of how to play Magic (for my stupid friends who couldn't understand the rulebook), but it was in Danish and I'm too lazy to translate it, plus it was for 4th edition.
