my myTouch has always had a rough time switching data networks. Whether its 3g to edge or to wifi. I've put up with it because its not that big of a deal. But now it won't charge via the car charger, its charge only lasts half a day and I have to mess with it to get my lappy to see it as a drive.

So my question is...has anyone used T-Mobile's insurance/warranty? I pay the $6/month so that everything is covered but I'm not sure if this should have a deductible? The phone is only about 8 months old so its still under HTC's warranty too.

I wouldn't mind if Tmo gave me an upgrade to the new mytouch with the 3.5 jack...hmm......

UPDATE: that was pretty painless. I went into the Tmobile store so they could see it being funky. They noted my account and had me call customer service. Customer service had me (or made me pretend) to do the usual things. End result is they send me a new phone with none of the hassle that some users here have reported with other companies.

Final update:
Just got my replacement phone. It works great but its not a 3.5 one :(

But they did send me a free skin/holster :) But my son decided that he needed it :(

That sounds like a warranty issue since you didn't do anything that would have caused the damage.

Yeah, I'm with AstroManLuca. It sounds like a warranty issue - contact T-Mobile and in the unlikely event that they won't help, then contact HTC.

are they shipping the new one out first? do you have to send the old one back at all?

Nice. Yeah, T-Mobile is a good company. I've always been very happy with their customer service.

I remember way back in Aug. of 2008, back when only AT&T had them I bought an an original iPhone and hacked it pretty much as soon as a hack for it was released, and I was trying to get it working. I called up T-Mobile to see what the APN EDGE settings were and they said "Yes, sir, let me get you over to our iPhone expert." and I was thinking "you have to be kidding me, Geohot released the hack for this thing like 24 hours ago and they have an iPhone expert?" and sure enough there was a guy at T-Mobile who walked me through the setup for my iPhone.

They have always been really nice - their service is spotty where I live, but at least they are the nicest group of people which almost makes up it.

Hope you get a 3.5mm version, Rudeguy. :)

"new or like new" standard stuff. The lady said she would note that I would prefer one with a 3.5 jack :)

Good deal, I hope you get a brand new one. Usually, replacement phones are refurbs. The only time I got an actual NEW replacement, was a week or so after the LG Dare came out - the screen on mine died, I went to the VZW store and they replaced it with a NIB one straight up. I guess they didn't have any refurbs yet, as it was too new.

I don't mind refurbs in the least.

It appears as though they overnighted it :D I'll have my new phone later on tonite.

At least you have a properly working phone now. Too bad it doesn't have the headphone jack.
