I'd say it's a combination of ego with the desperation that comes from being a criminal (if reports are anything to go by) and defending the indefensible, i.e. Trump.
 
Whatever it is, it needs to stop. If the guy has evidence of a crime he needs to turn it over to the FBI, if not, he needs to shut his pie hole.

The Trump administration and his GOP Congress members seem to make a great deal about announcements with no intent to follow up. Trump didn't want investigations into corruption, he wanted Zelensky to announce that he's looking into Crowdstrike and the Bidens. Maybe he really wants that but slinging mud with the aid of foreign help is what Trump has thrived on. Rudy seems to be taking the same tack but earlier it was insurance if Trump dumps him, not some murder conspiracy by the media and Biden.

If Rudy had dirt on the Bidens why would he wait until Trump dumps him or why obstruct justice by hiding a massive scheme of corruption when Trump wants dirt on him?

It makes no sense at any level except as a distraction for the 1% nutters in the GOP.
 
People forget that Rudy was the guy who successfully lobbied to keep opioids readily available as it was becoming clear they were killing tens of thousands of people. Anything he does from then on is a moral upgrade.
 
Rudy seems to have lots of experience representing Mafia Dons...keeping a bit of "disappearance insurance?"
